Just like we shouldn't judge Kap and M. Lynch by their pressers, we shouldn't judge Tomsula by this presser, as uninspiring as it might be.

I get that, but a huge part of coaching is talking, and he don't do dat burry well.

Eh.

I think talking infront of a cameras that represent a medium in which your words will be stored and analyzed indefinitely is a lot different that talking to your team of players.

Trent Baalke said it's going to business as usual, group decisions — no different than it was under Mike Singletary and Jim Harbaugh.

Big difference between talking at a podium and talking to players in a coaching situation in private.

Need to be able to do both as a HC in the NFL

That'd be a fair statement if they were actually being grilled by the media and lampooned by the likes of the Cohns or Kawakamis.... But thus far, it's all just been soft balls.

Q: "How do you feel about team discipline"
A: "Good thing! Pack your own shoes and bag!"

Ummmm............. OK!
Jim Tomsula is Niners' version of Tony Sparano....

Dude, if you can't put together a few simple sentences, how are you going to command respect from bunch of pro players.
I was hoping to feel inspired, that's why im having such a hard time with this right now

One of his greatest strengths is his ability to communicate football concepts with football players. That is 100000000x times a more important skill for this job.

I have no idea if he'll be successful or not, but to close the book on him based off a press conference is pretty ridiculous. Quite frankly, fan reaction in here is more embarrasing than the press conference itself.
THEY CERTAINLY DIDNT WIN THE PRESS CONFERENCE...JED YORK PROMISED US THAT AND DELIVERED!! BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be fair most football players speak on a 8th grade reading level anyway
Every time they call Tomsula "Jim" is another slap to the face

Totally agree.

As a coach, you should be motivating and enthusiastic.

Press conferences are just politically correct fodder. As someone else alluded to, Harbaugh's press conferences were bad as well: they were rife with effusive praise of all players, featured lots of abstract talk, etc...
