They are, and he illicits emotional reactions, it's what he does. He's a character, a loud mouth, a persona.

However to hear him talk it's easy to see that it's an act, this is not a bad guy, just plays with passion and loves to talk.

If Joe Staley can welcome him, then we all should as well.

He met with no one else
The more I read, and the more I understand this contract, the more it sinks in... The better I like it. I was in favor of him as a player when it looked like it might happen. Now that I see the deal, we got a steal if he can play. If he earns those incentives? We still got a smoking deal.

I hope he comes on, heals up, and goes to the pro bowl. Because if he does? How much better does that make us?

Biggest bonus would come if he gets in the Seahawks heads twice this season. 🤣

Well, that and listening to Seahawk fans melting down, whining, and burning his jersey.

To be clear, the pro bowl incentive, he has to selected, he can't be added as an alternate to get that incentive paid to him. So he has to be one of the top 4 CBs in the NFC each year, voting wise, to earn that money.

If he's 100% or close, that should be a gimme.

agreed, if he's 100%, he should be a top 4 cb in the NFC no problem. just wanted to make that noted, that he needs to be elected initially to earn the incentive.
If he comes back healthy and plays well enough to be a probowler there is no way we argue with him about schematics.
Actually when first reading the details of the contract, it has me worried that Sherm might not be as Healthy as reports put out... or reports on how he'll be ready by training camp.

I REALLY DO hope he is betting on himself, and not that he is worried about his future play regressing...because of his injuries and age....and maybe felt this would be the best deal he could get.

The Positive side of me thinks he'll continue where he left off... being one of, if not the top CB in the league. Hopefully we don't have him play as much man as Seattle has had him do lately.

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEASON!

The infamous tip play hurts... but I have to admit I've been more tolerant of watching it over the past 24 hours.

What a bizarre world we live in.

Sherman's no dummy. He's got plenty of money. He's got plenty of fame. He has a Ring. He has a Stanford education.

I think he wants very badly to stick it to the team that cut him, and the incentives will fill in any holes in his motivation he may have.

I think this about sums it up.

"This is how much Richard studied this," Marathe said. "We had a clause in a bunch of our contracts saying players got an incentive for making the Pro Bowl, even if they were medically excused from playing in the Pro Bowl. Richard said, 'What if I'm voted to the Pro Bowl and I can't go because we're in the Super Bowl?' We thought, He's right. Great observation. We changed the wording."

I like how this guy thinks.

Love this part lmao!

Sherman smiled. "I've been at the 1-yard line before," he said, "and it didn't go so well."

Lynch said: "I promise you, we won't throw it this time."

I give Lynch credit too and this is why its good to have someone who played the game in our front office. Players can relate to players. He actually got Sherman a little pumped up in there lol. If it was Baalke, Sherman wouldve laughed at him on the way out.

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEASON!

Its a combination of going back to his home state, playing seattle 2x a year, and going to an up and coming team. If we didn't have a FQB in place, he wouldn't be here.
Late in the process, when Sherman and the Niners agreed on most of the incentives in the deal, he got back to the three most interested teams. Seattle, interestingly enough, wanted the first right of refusal on any offer, and so Sherman called Seahawks GM John Schneider. Sherman said Schneider told him, "Incentives [are] a little rich for me." Sherman called Oakland GM Reggie McKenzie, who said he wasn't going to have the cap money to compete for him. And Sherman called Detroit coach Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn; incentive package too rich for Detroit's blood.
So if Sherman wanted a deal today, and if he wanted a sure thing, he'd have to go with the 49ers. With the other contenders falling by the wayside, and with one final concession by the Niners, Sherman's decision was made for him. He shook hands with Lynch, hugged him, and the deal was done.

well that's interesting
