Tired of waiting for MadDog's Post-Combine Board Mock

Impatient waiting for a Post-Combine Board I can count on, here's a Mock based on MadDog's post-Senior Bowl board with comments from various sites. Numbers in parentheses are MadDog's rankings followed by our actual or approximate pick numbers. Will probably be obsolete as soon as the post-Combine boards come out, but here goes:

1A. (MD11, pick 13) C.J. Spiller, Clemson - Scouting Report 
Height: 5-11. Weight: 196. 
Projected 40 Time: 4.34. 
Combine 40 Time: 4.27. 
Benchx225: 18. Vertical: . Broad: 9-11. 
Projected Round (2010): Top 20 Pick. 
1/16/10: C.J. Spiller rushed for 1,212 yards on a 5.6 average, and caught 36 passes for 503 more yards as a senior. He can also return punts. As long as performs well at the Combine, some team will take him in the top 20. His play-making ability is way too enticing.

1B. (MD14, pick 17) Trent Williams, Oklahoma - Scouting Report 
Height: 6-5. Weight: 315. 
Projected 40 Time: 5.27. 
Combine 40 Time: 4.88. 
Benchx225: 23. Arm: 34 1/4. 
Projected Round (2010): Top 20 Pick. 
2/28/10: Where did this come from? Trent Williams somehow ran a 4.88 at the Combine and displayed a lot more athleticism than anticipated.

2. (MD57, pick 49) Nate Allen, FS, South Florida - Scouting Report 
Height: 6-0. Weight: 207. 
Projected 40 Time: 4.47. 
Combine 40 Time: . 
Benchx225: 16. Vertical: . 
Projected Round (2010): 2. 
1/14/10: One of the more underrated prospects in this class, Nate Allen garnered 85 tackles, four interceptions and four pass deflections in 2009.
"The Golden Child," as some of Allen's teammates have called him, has the genes and physical style NFL teams like in their free safeties.
The ability to attack the line of scrimmage, make plays in deep coverage, and track down running backs from behind makes scouts take note in the film room. Speed, versatility, intelligence and toughness? Sounds like a NFL starter in the making.


3. (MD76, pick 79) Koa Misi, Utah 
Height: 6-3. Weight: 251. 
Projected 40 Time: 4.74. 
Combine 40 Time: 4.69. 
Benchx225: . Vertical: 38. 
Projected Round (2010): 2-3. 
1/31/10: Along with Brandon Graham, Koa Misi made life a living hell for the Senior Bowl South quarterbacks with outside pressure.
Pass Rush/Blitz: Played mostly defensive end for the Utes, quick off the edge and plays through the whistle. When standing up, he has nice closing speed to the QB and some shiftiness to defeat running backs inside or turn the corner on lineman outside. Also uses his hands to keep lineman off balance and get around their outside shoulder. Will need counter moves and learn how to blow up blocks in the backfield.
Intangibles: Team captain. High character player praised by his coaches for work ethic. Suffered back injury in preseason practice, worked hard to miss only the first game of 2009 season.

4. (MD135, pick 111) Selvish Capers, OT, West Virginia
Height: 6-5 | Weight: 304
Pass blocking: Prototypical height and athletic build for a left tackle. Smooth kick slide, quick set and good lateral movement. Keeps his feet moving and hands active. Will punch and extend his arms to keep rushers at a distance. Gets low to cut in a hurry. Fair anchor, but he must improve his knee bend -- ends playing with good leverage can push him back by getting under his pads. Has lapses in his movement in his kick slide, possibly due to forgetting the snap count.
Intangibles: Took over as the leader of the offensive line as a senior, though he is not a vocal player. Plays strong, and comes to the aid of teammates on the field.

5. (MD161, approx. pick 145) Akwasi Owusu-Ansah Indiana (Pa.) CB
Height: 6-0 Weight: 207
40 Time: 4.47
Read & React: Reads his receiver carefully on the outside and is quick to jump routes once a hint is given. Reads the quarterback well and has the speed to the ball in the deep half as a safety. Baits the quarterback into thinking the seam route is open.
His return skills were formidable at the D-II level, but should translate; he hits a hole quickly, shows good vision, runs through arm tackles and has the speed to beat the angle. Displays patience to let blocks develop on interception and kickoff returns.


6. (MD178, approx. pick 177) Garrett Graham, FB/TE, Wisconsin 6’3”, 250, 40: 4.71, bench: 20, Vertical: 34.5, broad jump: 9’4”, 20 shuttle: 4.35
Garrett Graham isn't as flashy as many of the other tight end prospects for 2010, but he is one of the most complete players. Graham makes an excellent safety valve for his quarterback. He finds holes in zone coverage and sits down to provide an easy target. Because of Wisconsin's preference to run the ball, he has become an excellent run blocker. He has the size and upper body strength to take on defensive ends in the run game as well as linebackers. He may become an H-back in the NFL.

7. Donald Jones, WR, Youngstown State 
Height: 6-0. Weight: 214. 
Projected 40 Time: 4.52. 
Combine 40 Time: 4.47. 
Vertical: 41. Broad: . 
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
Size, speed, big vertical=worth a shot.

I don't think Selvish Capers is available that late.

I don't think Koa Misi will be available in the 3rd.

I'm going off MadDog's and other Boards to try to make it at least reasonable.
CBS sports has Misi rated 64th; Walter football gives him a 2nd-3rd grade, so he might go late 2nd. Or we might have the chance to slide up a few slots in the 3rd.

Capers is rated #120 by CBS sports; Walter football gives him a 4th-5th grade. So again, it's a possibility he's there but no certainty.
We'll know more when the post-Combine Boards come out.

Mayock said that Misi was as solid as a 2nd round pick as you were going to find. That doesn't mean he won't slip to the 3rd, but he was pretty solid at the combine and the Senior Bowl.

You could well be right. He's done nothing but help himself.

Didn't rack up eye-popping statistics or necessarily make a lot of game-changing plays but is a very intriguing prospect due to his impressive physical tools --- Classic Workout Warrior who will likely be selected earlier than he should be by some team that becomes infatuated with his potential.

Misi is a better football player than a pure athlete. He does have some upside as an OLB, but needs to bulk up in order to make a difference. He is a nice fourth or fifth round value who could be over-drafted due to the weakness of this year's OLB/DE class.

I like Garrett Graham in the 6th. A FB/TE combination saves us a roster spot if we let Norris walk. And with the number of 2 TE plays that we run, having a back-up that can do more than just block is gravy, should Davis or Walker get injured.
