Here is what some of the San Francisco 49ers beat writers had to say about today's practice held at the team headquarters.

Paul Gutierrez, ESPN:
Rookie punter Bradley Pinion not only put on a show with his booming punts, but he was also getting reps on kickoffs. And he sent one kickoff flying out of the practice facility and into the adjacent parking lot.
A scary moment in 11-on-11's came when Arik Armstead bowled over Marcus Martin and the two came perilously close to rolling up quarterback Kaepernick's knees. But the quick-footed Kaepernick was able to get his feet out of the scrum in time.
Rookie Ian Silberman was getting time at right guard in the red-zone offense.
The 49ers are off on Monday but return with practice Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. PT.

Matt Maiocoo, CSN Bay Area:
Hayne appeared as if he would be dropped for a 5-yard loss on his first running attempt. But he cut inside of outside linebacker Eli Harold to avoid the tackle. Hayne looked as if he would score on the play, but 295-pound defensive end Tank Carradine leveled him with a loud pop at the goal line.
Hayne's second and final rushing attempt ended significantly better for him, as he did not seem the least bit shaken Carradine's welcome to the full-contact football.
In all, the offensive unit scored three touchdowns in the 12 snaps, which included one aborted play when quarterback Dylan Thompson and Hayne had a miscommunication in the backfield.
Defensive end Arik Armstead demonstrated his strength as he pushed right guard Marcus Martin into the backfield, dangerously close to Kaepernick's legs on a pass rush.
Receiver DeAndrew White, who had a quiet couple of practices, made two nice catches of Dylan Thompson passes at the sideline.

Chris Biderman, Niners Digest:
Players were not holding back during the "live" session, in what turned out to be the most competitive few minutes of training camp to date.
Second-year running back Kendall Gaskins and rookie Mike Davisreceived the bulk of the carries with Hayne. Gaskins also scored a touchdown. Carlos Hyde and Reggie Bush did not receive carries.
Kaepernick struggled toward the end of practice, completing 2 of his last 7 throws in 11-on-11s, unofficially finishing the day 10 of 21.
Kaepernick took a few chances throwing deep balls Sunday, but was unable to connect. He missed Quinton Patton deep down the right side with a throw that sailed out of bounds, and later missed Torrey Smith.

Matt Barrows, The Sacramento Bee:
Hayne himself supplied the offensive highlight when he took a handoff, moved to his left, broke free of an arm-tackle attempt by safety L.J. McCray and then was slammed at the goal-line by linebacker Steve Beauharnais and defensive end Kaleb Ramsey.
The first-team offense scored when Kaepernick rolled to his right and hit tight end Vance McDonald in the back of the end zone. Tailback Kendall Gaskins also scored on a wide run with the third-team offense.
Bowman showed more flashes of his former self when he split the right tackle and right guard to greet Reggie Bush in the backfield earlier in practice.
The primary offensive line continues to be: Staley at LT, Alex Boone at LG, Joe Looney at C, Marcus Martin at RG and Erik Pears at RT.
[Gabbert] hit receiver Jerome Simpson in the end zone for a touchdown. Simpson was jousting with cornerback Marcus Cromartie but came down with the ball. Cromartie otherwise had a strong practice.

Grant Cohn, The Press Democrat:
Hayne's second handoff during the goal-line drill came on a stretch-zone run to the right. Hayne jogged behind the offensive line toward the sideline, cut upfield, bounced off Arik Armstead and Shayne Skov and fell into the end zone.
Mike Davis: Did not score during the goal-line drill, but showed excellent "contact courage" during the blitz pick-up drill. Eli Harold tried to run Davis over and Davis knocked him back. Davis might be the best blocking tailback on the team.
Toward the end of practice, Bell received back-to-back targets and dropped both of them.
Kaepernick: Attempted four deep passes and none of them were catchable. The first three landed out of bounds. The fourth one landed 10 yards in front of the intended receiver, wide receiver Torrey Smith.

Australian rookie Jarryd Hayne bulled through five would-be tacklers to reach the end zone Sunday and highlight the hardest-hitting drill of training camp.
Of the 12 snaps in that goal-line drill, only three touchdowns were scored: runs by Hayne and Gaskins, and a Colin Kaepernick pass to Vance McDonald.
Rookie wide receiver DeAndrew White had several highlights, including two leaping grabs of Dylan Thompson passes, as well as clean showings on punt and kickoff returns.
Reggie Bush is being incorporated more into the offense, and Kaepernick connected with him on a couple touchdown passes in a red-zone drill.
Marcus Martin continued his growing pains at right guard, and he also sent a wayward shotgun snap that Kaepernick bobbled and Ahmad Brooks collected in mid-air.
