Matt Maiocco joined Damon Bruce on 95.7 The Game on Friday to discuss the San Francisco 49ers. One topic that he discussed was the deepest group on the team that has most impressed him this offseason – the cornerbacks.
"The deepest position group – and this might surprise you – it's a young group, they're going to have their growing pains, but I do think that there is a lot of talent there, and there should be a lot of talent seeing that they've used seven draft picks the last three years. I've really been impressed with the cornerbacks. Jimmie Ward making the transition over. Tramaine Brock is the veteran. But they have some young guys who have been very very competitive."
Maiocco went on to say that maybe he should temper that back a little bit because of the talent that the unit has gone up against, bringing up that the 49ers wide receivers are mostly young and inexperienced. However, Maiocco feels that the cornerbacks have been surprisingly good.
