The demand for soon-to-be former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman hasn't been high ... yet. That doesn't mean the offers won't start coming soon for the veteran, who is preparing to enter his 11th NFL season. Sherman discussed free agency so far during his weekly co-hosting gig on The Cris Collinsworth Podcast.
"Well, it's been so motion, so far," Sherman said. "I've gotten a couple of feeler calls where they're like, 'Hey, what are you willing to take?' Or, 'What are you willing to do? What are you trying to do?' And what's my bottom number? What's my top number? Et cetera, et cetera. But nothing crazy. No firm offers or anything.
"I think they're waiting for all the young guys to figure out where they're going. Shaq Griffin, he just signed with Jacksonville, so I think it's all about to fall out once he and William Jackson get off the floor."
Jackson just agreed to a three-year, $42 million deal with the Washington Football Team, so Sherman expects the cornerback market to heat up soon.
A report surfaced today that the New Orleans Saints are among the teams that are expressing interest in Sherman.

Sherman, 32, spent the past three seasons with the 49ers. He spent seven seasons with the Seattle Seahawks before that. Everyone was betting that the Las Vegas Raiders would contend to acquire the three-time first-team All-Pro after head coach Jon Gruden seemingly ignored anti-tampering rules and pitched his squad to Sherman during a February interview on the podcast.
The Seattle Seahawks made Sherman a fifth-round selection out of Stanford in 2011. He registered 18 tackles, a pass defensed, and an interception through five games last season.
Sherman doesn't have an agent and will be representing himself in contract negotiations, as he did when he signed with the 49ers in 2018. In previous years, Sherman would have had to wait until the start of the new league year to speak with other teams. However, the rules were recently altered to allow self-represented players the ability to have discussions during the two-day "legal tampering" window preceding free agency.
