The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 17 contest against the Houston Texans on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
It looks like rookie quarterback Trey Lance will get the start this weekend with Jimmy Garoppolo dealing with a thumb injury. Garoppolo did not practice this week and is listed as "questionable."
Lance practiced all week as QB1.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan stated that the 49ers are still hoping that Garoppolo can play, which is why he hasn't been ruled out.
"No, I'm not ready to announce [Lance as the starter]," Shanahan said on Friday. "Jimmy's not out, so I'm holding out hope. [As for] next week, he's got a chance this week, so he'll have a better chance next week."
This week, Shanahan said that he expects the 49ers to activate running back Trey Sermon (ankle) off injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game. That move will likely come on Saturday.
San Francisco will be without a pair of linebackers—Dre Greenlaw and Azeez Al-Shaair. Both are ruled out.
