Um, what? RBs don't need good lateral movement in this scheme because the scheme they essentially run a vertical track from the moment the exchange happens and the RB makes their read. There's no stopping and dancing behind the LOS in this scheme or changing direction. RBs are mandated to get north by their third step. That's why it's called a one-cut-and-go running scheme. Alex Gibbs once described the perfect zone RB like a surfer who rides a wave once the ball is in his hands to the correct opening. That's exactly why Leonard Fournette would be excellent in this scheme. That's what he does. You're right--he doesn't have great lateral agility. But this isn't a power offense where he slow plays the running lane behind a puller or wrapper. This is a one-cut-and-go running scheme. And that's what he does best.
Just looking at the backs he's brought in over the last few years it's pretty clear Kyle has a type and Fournette is the antithesis of that.
