Just an athlete...hes no safety and a lot of people feel like hes gonna be somethin special at the next level...hes not...

lol, suckage at coverage or not, the dude can straight hit. maybe he'll be converted to an LB, i dunno. Phillips (if he comes back I didn't know about the severity of his knee situation) and Mays would be a sick combo. And that size/speed combo is what NFL scouts drool over. To say "he's not" going to be something special at the next level is a little bit of an over-statement. I'm not saying that he will or won't, but to write the dude off as a bust before he's taken a snap is
We need someone who can provide coverage. We also need someone who can hit, but coverage, consistency, tackling, are all part of the package we are looking for. I don't think Mays fits our bill. He might work out well for someone elses team but not ours.

Oh hell no I'm not saying the 49ers should get mays. God help us if that happens. Look at my original post:

Ha ha did you see what Golden Tate did to Mays? Imagine what NFL WR's are going to do to him. He is completely overhyped
I would f*cking shoot myself if our draft went like that while Seattle's went like that.

You think the Faiders pass on Bradford? I doubt this happens with Jamarcus gone

Yes, Bradford does not fit Old Al's definiton of a QB. He is not a brain dead heaver who has the arm strength to run the vertical game that he has been trying to run since the 60's.

Over all this is a pretty good first 17. Still, I don't understand the attraction that this board shows for Spiller. Is he good, yes.... but running backs are a dime a dozen and should very rarely be taken before the end of the first round. Running backs often produce based on the system they are in, and good ones that will fit any team's given system can be found in latter rounds.

He could turn out to be our Chris Johnson... or Devin Hester/Percy Harvin would be acceptable too... and oh yeah, we'd take care of that glaring hole we have in our special teams return team.

Agree
13 San Francisco 8-8 = CJ Spiller Clemson RB
14 Seattle (from Denver) = Mike Iupati Idaho G
15 New York Giants 8-8 = Taylor Mays USC S
16F Tennessee 8-8 = Jason Pierre-Paul South Florida DE
16F San Francisco (from Carolina) 8-8 = Trent Williams Oklahoma OT

I would rather see the 49ers go with: OG Mike Iupati at #13. I like the Williams pick.

Draft Iupati and another OT and watch Alex Smith's, Frank Gore's, Michael Crabtree's, Josh Morgan's, and Vernon Davis' stats GROW!!!

exactly
I would rather take Iupati than Spiller, and target a guy like Dexter McCluster in the second or third round.

Same here, I would love Spiller but OL need major help. We also need FS/SS and because Berry isn't going to be there then get one in pick 16 (if no good OL are left) or 2nd round. 3rd round get a WR who can punt return and open up defences.

yep.. We are going to need someone to block Suh twice every season, so we better draft Davis, or Williams, or Campbell and Iupati.
