Sounds like if its close in grades.. its close enough that Kyle doesn't mind much. So it may be wise to go with what your staff is thinking. I mean its a compliment to Kyle, everyone thinks he can get the most out of Lance.

Jones would be the QB taken insde the top3 EVER with the lowest merch sales.
Usually you expect to have excitement in your franchise if you pick a top3 qb which clearly will be felt in jeds pocket.

No he won't. But he'll lose a lot of credibility with the personnel department for ignoring their input again.

in Pre-Covid times, people would be there in mass just to boo the pick if it ends up being McCorkle. That's why it can't be him, it doesn't make any sense. Kyle can't be that arrogant to ignore a significant amount of the fanbase, and think we'll just accept his growing pains when he takes a coverage sack or gets run down by a defensive end because he doesn't have Alabama's O-line blocking for him against a team full of opt outs (looking at you LSU). It's unfair to McCorkle because he MUST be damn near an All-Pro in his rookie season for the fan base to totally accept him and this is setting him up for failure. I don't think Kyle does this, which is why I think it's Lance or Fields.

I know how this deal goes and would normally agree with you, but Jed has basically committed to the Lynch/Shanahan partnership for the forseeable future. If Mac Jones ceiling is a slightly lesser version of Kirk Cousins, that is still decent, albeit a poor return on their investment.

Unless the guy they pick is a COMPLETE FLOP, and there is organizational dysfunction and infighting and the 49ers are basically a 5-11 perennial loser, ShanaLynch are both safe. If anything John Lynch will go long before Kyle. But he's such a standup guy, no GM worth a damn is taking this job if they know Kyle has final say.

firing Lynch when everyone knows it's kyle running the show solves nothing. I love Kyle I think he's a top 5 HC. He's basically the GM too which is a problem IMO. Not a lot of HC in the league who do that are great at drafting too.

If you draft a player at 3 after giving up 2 additional 1sts plus a 3rd and he turns out to be Kirk Cousins you should and would get fired. Mac better turn out to be Brees or Ryan if Kyle wants to keep his job.

Kyle Shanahan is 22-8 in the regular season with Jimmy Garoppolo as his starting quarterback. I'd like to think we have a good roster sans the quarterback position.
