Draft the Jets

Since the 49ers won't have a first round pick, I thought it might be fun to look at some other teams, starting with the Saleh coached Jets who, at least right now, are in position to pick up two top 10 picks.

If you're the Jets, who do you take?

My two favorites:

Aidan Hutchinson-Michigan-DE

Hutchinson has been a nightmare off the edge this year, combining size, length, motor, power and improved technique he could easily step in and be a starter in Saleh's 4-3 defense. Hutchinson never let's up on plays, shows strong, heavy hands that can rock an OL and consistently makes his presence felt. With Quinnen Williams playing at a Pro Bowl level and a returning Carl Lawson, adding Hutchinson could lead to a potentially dominant pass rush.

Kyle Hamilton-S-Notre Dame

It'd be an especially bad look for Seattle if the Jets acquired a better safety than Jamal Adams with one of the first that the Seahawks gave up. Hamilton has everything you look for in a modern safety. Size, athleticism and pass coverage skills as well as tackling ability that allow you to play him at either safety spot and even linebacker.

Add Hutchinson and Hamilton to that defense while continuing to upgrade at OL, CB and WR and the Jets might be in a position to take a huge step forward in 2022.
Kyle Hamilton and Kenyon Green
A safety with a high 1st rounder? Wouldn't be my choice.
I havent been watching a lot of college football this year, but I did get to watch that Mich Ohio state game.

Hutchinson is insane
I like this Hutch Hamilton combo. Jets should just build a bully on D put all the resources there. Go for broke to be the next 85 Bears or 00 Ravens. With that offense it's probably their only hope.

Hamilton is one of the more unique safety prospects to come along in years. He checks all the boxes in terms of what you want from the position. A bigger version of Jamal Adams but with far superior coverage ability.
In a dream draft they would get KT and Stingley. Pair them with Q and Mosley and you got a stew going. Next best would be Stingley and Hutchison.
Neal and Ekwonu would be great picks but man the Jets need some hype.
whoever gets 1:1 next year is hitting the jackpot with Anderson tho

This is the way, 2 playmakers on defense to continue to help Saleh recreate something similar to the D he had here. Defense still wins championships.

And the bonus is that they still have 2 seconds round picks, a third rounder, 2 fourths and 2 fifths in the draft and should have a good chunk of change to use in FA. So the offense can also get some needed help.

That would be hilarious if they repeat the same mistakes with Darnold and don't get this kid some OL help and a WR.

They've invested two early 1sts on the OL and two 2nds at WR in just the past two years. The best way to help out Wilson at this point is to build a powerful defense and development strong run game so all the pressure isn't on him to have to carry the entire offense and continually have to bring the team back from behind.

FWIW they have not totally ignored those positions.

1st round pick on Becton in 2020
1st round pick on Vera Tucker in 2021
Traded for Laurent Duvernay Tardif this year
2nd round pick on Elijah Moore in 2021
Signed Corey Davis in FA

But they do still need help in these areas.
Lol, I am in Michigan so I have been mocking the Lions. I think Jets will end up taking whatever pass rusher is left between Hutchinson and Thibodeux. With the 2nd pick, it would have to be Stingley or Hamilton. These are the elite talents in the draft at positions of need. I might even prioritize Stingley over Hamilton since they already have one good safety. Bookend offensive tackle is another possibility like we did with McGlinchey.

I think Aiden Hutchinson goes number one to the Lions and it is a perfect fit.
I like Hutch, but I don't think he's TOP 10... he'll be a bust if he goes that high.. to me, he's a LATE 1st at BEST.

and I wonder if the Saleh and the Jets would give up one of their 1st rounder for Deebo and Armstead..

I'mma need an explanation for Hutch being a "late 1st at BEST." He is a top 3 prospect in this class. Looks like Joey Bosa out there; dominant all season, and answered any and all questions about level of competition by completely dominating OSU who has arguably the best OL in the country and Petit-Frier who should be a top 50 pick in the draft.

Also, why in the hell would we trade Deebo and AA for a first man, my god. Neither team would make that trade.

As for OP, this would be the correct two picks. Seeing Neal's giant ass opposite Becton (tho I think Neal is slightly overrated) or Ekwonu's giant ass next to Becton would be pretty cool, but Hamilton is a special special talent, maybe the #1 prospect if we ignore positional value. He is Derwin James levels of special.

LATE FIRST - I know how lots of people like the guy... but that's just MY OPINION.. I just don't think he's TOP 10... I think the guy is good, but is a down end for a 4-3 or an up OLB under 3-4..

If I'm running the Jets show, I'd trade down and solidfy my secondary... I also think that Wilson will need a RB and the guy I like most is #21 from Washington State.. high to mid 2nd round..
