A name I've been mentioning for a long time, but not sure that is a wise use of limited resources with the way our guards have been playing, on rookie deals no less.

He plays OT at NDSU, but I'd expect him to move inside (and dominate there) in the NFL

Depending on what happens with McFlinchey, Niners have to decide whether they need an OT only prospect to replace him and a better Center IMO to take over for Brendel. The question is, do the Niners already have enough good OL on their roster RIGHT NOW to fill their short term and long term needs at both OT and C. The guards are young and good IMO. What do you think?

I still say best available DT or CB. Honestly rather go more CB now after this past game.

Potential targets in that range:

Deonte Banks, CB | Maryland
Keeanu Benton, IDL | Wisconsin

Yup Deonte Banks is another one that I like along with Darius Rush, Julius Brents, Tony Grimes, Jaylon Jones, Riley Moss and Cam Hart. Lots of talent in rounds 4 and 5. I'm hoping they go DT in the 3rd round.
So far 2 3rd, 2 5th, 2 7th rounders. I like our DL as it is. We drafted Drake Jackson and Kalia Davis last year. Armstead, Ridgeway, Givens, Kinlaw, Davis, Omenihu of course to go with Bosa and Jackson. Not sure who is a FA out of this group and I'm sure Coach K will find a diamond in the rough out there for rotation. I would like secondary help at Safety and CB to develop. How about OL? A Center and developmental OT if Mcglinchey comes back. Is this the year that Shany pass drafting a RB other than signing an undrafted one? Other than that, not much holes in this team.

Ridgeway and Omenihu are UFA. Givens RFA.

Right Tackle: yes
Safety: JWard approaching senior status (for a DB); TGipson is already senior status
CB: Ambry Thomas doesn't seem to be developing well; Lenior seems solid, EMan coming back from major injury; can never have enough good CBs
sophomore?

IMO its best available DT or CB with the first pick. It could change though if Mike McGlinchey leaves in the off season.

I agree but the DTs after the first round just don't look that great a fit this year to me

2nd to 3rd rounds, I think the DT's are solid. I wouldn't get caught up too much in what system they fit. I think if they're solid at stopping the run and can penetrate they're good enough to play in any system.

Bryan Bresee - 6'5" 300 pounds , Clemson
Tyler Davis - 6'3" 300 pounds, Clemson
Byron Young - 6'3" 295 pounds, Alabama

Just a few DT's I been watching this year, that I think would shine next to Armstead and help stop the run up the middle. I wish the 49ers could somehow get their hands on Jalen Carter, one of the best DT's I've seen in awhile, more than worthy of a top 10-15 pick.

Unfortunately, Carter looks like he's going to be a Seahawk.

I think Seattle has a top 5 pick as it stands. You think they use it on a DT? Unless you mean moving up with their second first.

Carter is a top 5 prospect

If you've looked at the Seahawks needs, DT and Edge rusher are their two biggest needs. They get run on by everyone and they don't have a premier pass rusher right now. Carter and Anderson, Jr are the two biggest targets unless they decide to go get their QB of the future.

They have the draft ammo to get anyone they want this draft, even trading down gets them some pretty good defenders. They can come away with the best edge, 2nd best DT and best safety. Will probably get one of the best RBs too plus some good role players mid rounds like G, CB, WR and LB
