Andre Carter II

Don't know what to make of this guy so I thought I would post it to the group. He was a potential first round pick early in the draft process and now I've seen him projected as low as the fifth round. We all know the Niners could use a good edge rusher opposite of Bosa and this kid has the physical tools to be a good player with some development. What do you think?

I've went back and forth on this guy. I too didn't know what to make of him. I eventually decided considering where we'd have to take him, in the 3rd, I'd pass on him and go after some else I like there or in the 5th.

If he was there in the 5th, he'd be in the discussion for me. I don't think I could pull the trigger in the 3rd

I kept searching trying to figure out if he was his son. Found that he wasn't

Yup. I really liked original Carter cuz he was scary fast, Drake has some of that now, the athleticism.

This Andre Carter seems to be falling down boards, however the production was there, certainly got home a lot
I dont see it in the 3rd round. Didnt look good to me at all in drills at the senior bowl. Every analysis of his is about potential and the length/size/speed combination. I'm sure we could coach him up as well as any team, but I'm more looking for immediate production. There are plenty of athletic ends in the draft that may be able to immediately fill the Ebukham role. And we have spots at other positions that need an immediate contributor in my opinion. Different story in the 5th round though.

I liked him too. He was a good player but he never lived up to the #7 overall pick status. He had some good years post SF also though with Washington/NE.
I'd rather take someone like Brooks or McGuire in the 3rd or Fehoko in the 5th.
Didn't have a great combine, was expected to put up way better numbers, to me seems more like a 3-4 OLB. Also teams would have to worry about his status in the army. He may not be granted his deferment from having to enlist before his playing career is over. In the 5th I would for sure take him, just not sure about the 3rd.
Hard hard hard pass
worth a 5th round pick
I'd take him at 99. He would be behind the more experienced DEs but he has a lot of talent and upside to be an eventual starter. I doubt he gets past #75.

Personally, I think he has a greater chance of going undrafhed than he does going top 75, but I could be wrong
