Assuming Sam Darnold tries his hand elsewhere (not necessarily in my view the wisest decision for him) we will only be carrying 2 QB's on the roster. I imagine they will be looking for a vet but will surely pick up a youngster or two, maybe one around the 5th or 6th and one in UDFA.
With this in mind, perhaps posters could thrown out a few names of those likely to be around later on in the draft for discussion?

I've been on the Devin Leary, Kentucky train. His game seems very similar to Purdy's.
Had a GREAT 2021 season at NC St. Tore pectoral muscle in 22. Transferred to Kentucky for 23.

Wow! Patient, accurate, quite mobile, can throw on the run, reads the game well, he is very like Purdy. An excellent reserve from what I see on this video. Wonder what round he will go in.
Googling him, ,most seem to suggest 6th round or thereabouts. Happy with that. One source suggested that they couldn't see him going any higher than 3rd round!

I'm trying to get into the bottom tier of QBs because it is likely we will draft one, but just doesnt look like an intriguing class. We are not helped by the weak free agent class either. I gotta think Darnold looks for a better chance to compete. Brandon Allen could be resigned. But not alot else out there. If its the case that we need someone more experienced and that could help right away if called upon rather than a longer time project, maybe Sam Hartman just because hes more experienced.

Pratt is the best QB we've spoken with. Dude certainly has some tools, but a top 100 pick potentially. Too early for us.
If we go late round or UDFA, I agree that -- if available, Leary is an interesting option.
Also would consider Austin Reed (WKU).

Pratt is the guy I take in almost all my mocks. He seems like a legit backup at least. I'd take him in the 4th-5th.

Obviously won't happen. But I do think if we didn't have brock, JJ McCarthy would be a perfect fit for us. I know a lot of people aren't high on him, but I think he has something special. If he goes to a good situation where he won't get killed like bryce he will be a starting qb for a long time.

Kedon Slovis as a UDFA, he could run the scout team esp for running QBs and could be a good fit in the short to mid level passing game.

Would be funny considering Purdy and Slovis played at rival high schools out here with Slovis being the more heavily recruited prospect.

Man Slovis kind of looks like a wreck. Not sure what we see in him. Feel like Ben Bryant from northwestern is better.

JJ McCarthy has talent. Reason he's so highly thought of league wide? Plays inside structure of the offense. Executes plays called. Doesn't freelance and deviate from structure often. Coaches spend hours game planning. It's almost meaningless if you've got a QB where the…
