We sadly burned that bridge with Aldon when we cut him in favor of our 2 bit former QB.
I wonder what Aldon thinks of Kap right now?

Or better yet, what does Kap think of Aldon?

"For Christ sakes, the guy has assault charges, domestic violence charges, drunk, arrested a few times, etc.....and I'M the one out of the league and can't get back in?" lol

Just further punctuates the idea that if your talent outweighs your baggage, you'll always get a second chance.

Had Russell Wilson come forward in 2016 and said (for one he'd articulate way better) I've noticed a trend in the way minorities are treated by police and will be protesting to bring attention to the matter. There is ZERO chance he'd be out of the league.

Every situation is a little different, for sure. There is definitely coercion at least a couple years ago though when a guy like that can't even get a minimum contract.

Aldon much better at his craft then Kap was at his. Not even close.

Aldon is much better at his craft than any QB we've had since Young is at theirs.

The league doesn't care what a player does as long as their talent exceeds the amount of attention it brings. A guy like Tyreek Hill could beat his kid into a bloody pulp on video but not a single Chiefs fan or coach or NFL exec would care as long he's still fast.

What a ridiculous comment. Adrian Peterson was suspended for a year and career derailed because he beat his kid with a stick.

Most niner fans were tired of Aldon's crap after his second dui when he was supposed to be the leader/reformed veteran.

How many chances did Aldon get with us? And we still didn't cut him until we were no longer contenders. If we were still competing for the championship, there is nothing he could have done to get us to turn our back on him.

That is just an opinion. One I do not share. Refresh your memory regarding Ray McDonald, cut the same day News was released that he faced a rape charge. Bruce Miller, cut the day he was arrested in September 2016.

Bruce Miller was arrested prior to that for pushing his girlfriend and smashing her phone. I recall many people here downplaying and excusing it as no big deal and it was simply a couples quarrel or some s**t and had no impact on his character.

The culture of the 49ers hit rock bottom at the end of Harbaugh's reign. Aldon Smith was given so many chances because of his rare athletic gifts. NFL teams will overlook many infractions if a player is a superstar. With Aldon the 49ers had no alternative he was a train wreck every time he left the house.
You think there's a chance we can sign him next year? I still remember how dominant he was with us and it makes me sad. Jesus we had an absolutely ELITE linebacking core with him Willis Bowman and Brooks.

No. No chance at all.

Both of those players were given multiple chances and neither was close to being on the level of Aldon.
