Agree with the rest of your post, but the #3 overall thing will never go away for Thomas or any other #3 pick. That's just the way it is. Similar to people complaining about where Foster and CJ was taken.

Assuming he turns out to be a decent player (I think he will be), he'll still be viewed as a bust for not living up to his draft status. Does that mean he should get cut or not offered a new contract? Absolutely not.

That's where I was going with that. At this point unless he has a total phoenix level season odds are he's not going to live up to the draft spot. It's why I go to the Alex Smith comparison(well one of the reasons)

Alex wasn't worth #1 overall but he ended up having a pretty good career for himself and was a pretty good QB who wasn't as good as he was projected to be.

An Alex Smith-like career would be a win, as long as it doesn't take that long to look good. A few Pro Bowls and a top 15 starter.
Solomon Thomas is Projected to Be the #75 Defensive Lineman the Rest of the 2019 Season... Keep on the Waiver Wire

Great post and great point! Thats the problem so many times, when a player is over hyped and ends up not living up to the level of play that was expected and then gets criticized, those being critical of him are labeled "haters". Thats the world we live in now which is ridiculous. Theres nothing wrong with pointing out a players short comings or failures that he was supposed to be better than. If a player doesnt live up to his billing, he should be criticized just like any of us would be if we did the same at our jobs.

A big win. But that would unfortunately include him LEAVING here and going on to to be a Pro Bowler somewhere else.

Some fans believe that these boards should only be populated with optimism and praise. Unfortunately for many of us, some of those fans continue to believe that critiquing a player (and his well-documented failures) is "hating". We just have to keep scrolling past them.
At this rate , Thomas won't be worth his 5th year option if he continues to be a back up player

Have to decide this offseason I believe. They may pick it up because they don't want to take the L so early. But, he will need to be a Pro Bowl player to get a second contract. Otherwise, he is easily replaceable via the draft.
I'm of the opinion Thomad will be looked to be traded this year but I also think he has a big first game.

A potential fumble return for a touchdown is in the cards. Just a vision I had.

In this vision, what was Bosa's health status? Street clothes, suited up, or tent?
Well tomorrow is the day , we can start judging for reels how this all turns out. No more insulting, arm chair GMing, he's either gonna have a season worthy of the pick or he won't.

Don't care if he lives up to the 3rd pick. We got 4 other 1sts on that d line too. Is long as that d line is effective and Thomas is holding up his end we should be good here.
With the D-line we have, it would be ABSURD for him to not produce. He will be in 1 on 1 matchups all game. If he does nothing this year, see ya! If he DOES live up to potential, though, holy crap! Could be a legendary line in the making!
