So...with Bosa and Ford coming from the outside, ST should only see time inside where he was actually performing right?

He is in this 3rd year. Will be playing a position suited for him. And be surrounded by elite talent.

He was the #3 overall pick. He should make the Pro Bowl this year. That should be the expectation.

If your #3 overall pick is NOT making Pro Bowls by this 3rd year with all of that talent around him -- it's time to just call a bust a bust.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Pro Bowl or bust, but he better make an impact. Being serviceable at best isn't what you look for in a top 3 pick. Really, really eager to see what kind of improvement there might be.

Sure, he'd be a rotational player. But he would be a bust relative to the draft slot. Those guys don't get extended. He could play in the NFL for 12 years, but if he never consistently dominates he will be a bust in my opinion. He simply would not have lived up to the franchise's expectation for him. I don't know what else to call that.
I think high expectations are fair.

He will be surrounded by talent, that in theory should make his job easier. If he is a half second too late on a half dozen sacks but causes a few more himself...ok maybe we can live with that. But, the guy has to produce.

I think he will. I think this team ends up with one the best starting front 4 in the game. I think we are watching the birth of a historically great line

Dude is nothing more than an academic wuss that wanted to be set for life with his own law firm down the road. He'll be next season's "surprise retirement story", reminding everybody about concussions, posing as the rich poster boy for birth control. What a worthless pos, I wonder what excuse he'll have this year to dodge training camp, I bet his great great grandpa will come down with measles, or his cousin's cousin will get the black lung.

wow I'm sure he feels the same way about you lol...calm down chief

I'm just going to assume that somewhere down the line SP ran into ST somewhere in Santa Clara and it didn't end well. That could be the only reason for this ridiculous rant.

Was thinking the same thing. Maybe ST is dating the girl that SP liked or something? Lol

And job on the inside gets easier with a good edge that takes attention away from him. If he can't thrive this year then cut/trade him but he deserves a fair shake on the inside.

Dude will go unblocked straight at the QB not realizing the ball was handed off. Then he will pump his arms super speed mode only to get there one second late.

Hustle points bonuses all the time.

I totally agree.

He's surrounded with talent and most likely will see single coverage.

He should be expected to win most one-on-one battles.

My point was more about the Pro Bowl being a popularity contest. If he's a major disruptor and racks up career highs in sacks, that tells me he's definitely on the right track and worth keeping.

Agree
If ST can't perform under these conditions then he'd be proving sooooo many people wrong......
You know, because there were tons and tons of experts who graded him as one of the top 5 players out of that draft.
