True, but still, sure am glad he finally moved on. And had he been fired 2 yrs ago, who knows who we would have had as GM. Sure wouldn't have been anything like the combo we got with kyle and John. No games played yet and already i am a huge fan. Maybe it was fate that kept baalke here so we could get the duo we ended up with. At the end of the yr, i bet we think it was worth it.

Things happen for a reason.
A Baalke storyline that will play itself out this season are the expiring contracts for some of his major draft picks:
Eric Reid - looks like he can thrive this year but can he stay concussion-free?
Daniel Kilgore - can he anchor the running game and stay healthy?
Carlos Hyde - is he a fit for the Shanahan offense?
Tank Carradine - has he found his niche in the Saleh defense?
Donte Johnson - can he solidify his role as a starter?
Keith Reaser - can he be more than a bubble guy?
Aaron Lynch - is he the 49ers' version of Pablo Sandoval?

I haven't been this excited in a while.

Reid hasnt missed time for a concussion since 2014.

Balke let the 49ers down so much in the draft its easy to forget some solid FA moves. I loved Rogers and Whitner pickups. In the end we needed the 2012 draft to be a home run to keep the empire growing. He tried to be cute and it flopped. Makes me damn near sick to my stomach to recall the collapse

Pretty sad when you look back at the current status of the Baalke WR picks, sorted by most recent pick:
Aaron Burbridge - Injured Reserve
DeAndre Smelter - Practice Squad
Bruce Ellington - Texans 53
Quinton Patton - Free Agent
A.J. Jenkins - Free Agent
Ronald Johnson - Free Agent
Kyle Williams - Free Agent

That is a sad indictment.

I doubt Smelter and Bubridge be saved another season specially since Bourne easily took spot of both guys as WR /ST Gunner. They will pink slipped next August (if not earlier)

They have a franchise QB to make the WR look better. We have had average to terrible QB play for 15 years now. A QB will make receivers look better than they are (Tom Brady does this every year), but the steelers also have a very good scouting dept and stable front office. Just a really well ran organization.

Year One of the rebuild!

I am excited as well to watch the rebuilding process with competence.

I believe certain things are controllable and some are not.

Maybe if we would have fired or put pressure on Baalke when we should have, instead of the blindingly praising after years of flops during a Super Bowl run we would have 6?

My point? I don't care who it is.. If they aren't doing their job. Bye... I don't want this b******t to happen again. Where politics gets to choose and not winners.. Where we end up causing years of damage..

I hope this franchise learns from it's self inflicted mistakes because I dont have time for b******t like this..

Life if short I need to see 6 before I go..

They also have an offense that actually features wide receivers.

Good post Wu...but i see one thing quite differently. You don't want to see this b.s happen again. I on the other hand, am absolutlely amazed that it got fixed. I was CERTAIN, as in no doubt, that we would never be a team to reckon with again, without a change in ownership...and i did NOT expect that to happen. My guess was we never won anything again until Yorks were adios. Then the weirdest thing happened.

Denise or somebody of consequence hired Lynch to tell her WTF was wrong wiht our team. Then the fuzzy part, then THEY(??) hire kyle as HC, and he agrees later to get LYnch as GM...or did they hire Lynch as GM after he had done the trouble shooting of all the teams woes first? Who knows who hired who, but dang did it ever work out good for us. And taht is something I NEVER Would have bet on. So you didn't want anymore of the B.s and i didn't think we would ever get better without ownership change. And look what happened.

I guess you never say never, but did this hire/arrangement ever surprise the heck out of me. And it was fado, or F8 that brot these two guys here.

Sorry but this is fake news. You are saying that these 28 guys were signed by Baalke.
Bashing Baalke for what HE did, yes. But if you start bashing Baalke for everything bad in the world, sorry, that is a little bit too much.

Things happen for a reason.

That reason was terrible decision making by the front office.
