Also, this samsung advertisement that takes up the whole screen is worse than the doom squad. Are you guys THAT hard-up for money?

If by doom squad you mean the folks who aren't afraid to actually look at their team objectively, everybody seems pretty happy with this move so far.

They getting there jimmies rustled

ShannyLynch were also scared of the 0-16 which was a very real possibility.

Um, it sounds like New England called the Niners. So the "scared of 0-16" is probably not accurate. Although it is very scary, and it's Halloween.

Our pick will be 1st or 2nd overall, the Saints have been winning so how is that a steal?

If Jimmy G sucks we gave up a high second rounder, which could have been another D-linemen!!!!

This Sucks!!!!

If Garoppolo indeed becomes a franchise QB, it would be a huge freaking steal!
what 2nd round pick have we hit in awhile, can't remember. So getting JG is already a steal

Well, Niners traded up from that 2nd round pick the last two years for Garnett (we'll see) and Foster (looks good so far when he's healthy)...so kinda hard to judge.

Those were 1st round picks not 2nd round picks.

.......

Correct.....but how did they get those picks?

I'm not following?

Are you trying to say that trading a second round pick for a first round pick, makes the player a 2nd round pick?

What I am trying to say is when you suck at picking in the second round, trade the pick for proven players or trade back into the first round which is an easier pick for novice gm's.

I think he is saying we could have used that pick to trade back into tyke first round.... which is kind of dumb because u would still be taking a unproven rookie.

Kentwan Baller was a late first round pick. We gave up a second. In my mind if we gave up someone with potential for a QB (most important position) who has been studying under the best in the game (currently, Montana still GOAT) I WILL TAKE IT!!!!

i think at the very least, they could feel some heat building and i am sure. while they did it for the long term .. i think they knew they needed to make a splash and give he fans who are not happy something to look forward to

I think they realized they needed to fill those seats at Levi, people will come if only to see if JG is any good.

I think you are reading more into my comment than I intended.

1) I don't think drafting ability magically dissipates between the 32nd and 33rd pick.

2) I'm saying the last few years the 49ers haven't made a 2nd round pick because they traded it to move up a few picks and take a guy they targeted and we don't know yet how that will turn out.

3) The last two 2nd round picks the 49ers actually used were on Jaquiski Tartt and Carlos Hyde...two players who are pretty good and may or may not be a part of the rebuild. Thats only 2 2nd rounder in 4 years.

4) I'm saying that trading that 2nd round pick may preclude them from doing what they've done in the last 2 years and trading back up into round one. Doing that doesn't guarantee anything but that is what became of the last 2 picks. IE there have been no 2nd rounders in the last 2 years to judge.

5) To be 100% clear, I am 100% on board with the trade. I'm simply stating that the pick wasn't worthless.

Kentwan Baller
AJ Jenkins

Damn.... I change my mind...we should not have traded for Jimmy....

I was already planning to see niners/cards but with this...I fear prices will rise

Oh, OK I get it.

You can ease your mind, as we still have a second round pick (from the Saints).
In the end this is a QB driven league. You have to do any and everything you can to secure a FQ until you do. This may or may not end up being the move that nets that FQ, but as a 49ers fan I appreciate the effort.

We still have a 2nd and two 3rds we can use to trade up into the first if needed. Granted, it will take more because we can expect the Saints 2nd to be more at the back end than front.
