Just listened to Tom Brady on the Westwood 1 halftime interview with Jim Gray. Brady sounded legitimately surprised and fairly pissed. I think we just landed a QBotF for a 2nd round pick.......YES, YES, YES!!!!

He's a niner fan, we know he's stoked

we need to focus on the offense this off season. OL and any weapons we can get our hands on. Any potential big name receivers with expiring contracts?

Agreed! Our defense is good enough to hold up a bit if the offense can help out at all. We need playmakers everywhere on both sides of the ball. Leave no stone unturned this off-season

so, we can do it still

We can front load contracts all we want, but the only thing that impacts our cap room 5 years from now is how much money a player is paid over the 5 years, not when it was paid. $10 million in cap spent in 2018 is equivalent to $10 million spent in 2020 if we're looking at cap room in 2020 and beyond. You and others are acting like spending money now doesn't impact our future cap space.

Certainly didn't hurt Tennessee when they traded down with St Louis. The leverage that exists is multiple teams wanting QB's and there will be several teams needing one. Teams like the Jets, the Cards, Dolphins and several others could be thinking QB and with there looking to be two or three guys worth taking that early, the 49ers could have the supply to fill the demand. I doubt they'd get an RG3 type deal but I'd be perfectly content with a Goff or Wentz type compensation.

I said this in an earlier post, but I agree. The 2nd Rounder we just gave up, we should get it back by trading down. There will be teams wanting to trade up for a QB.

Please don't play this guy this year

Why? Need to see how a guy performs when not everything is going perfectly. Get a real good idea how good he is.

They just paid a 2nd round for him. They better darn well know how good he is.

Our OLine can get him killed this year and for what. Nope. Hard pass. Sit him all year

It's easier to see what he has then it is some college quarterback that never has played a game in the NFL in his life. We got him for a second round pick. And he has more proof in the pudding than any quarterback in this draft

Hey Phoenix, I love the trade but feel what you stated has one draw back. It will hurt us trying to trade back with a team that wants a QB. Now hopefully the team after us will need one or there will be multiple teams wanting to move up to get one. The fact will be now that we won't take a QB. May hurt us there.

Hey good point. Was just saying it does change the narrative for us trading back. Will need to see how the teams draft postion plays out and who are "all in" for a QB. I guess my point was if you are one that may take a QB it helps the value of the pick.

Damn... 2nd round pick seems insanely cheap, I hope Sneaky Bill isn't selling us a lemon.

Does this mean Barkley shoots to the top of our draft board next year?

I bet Jimmy had the total opposite reaction.
For those not watching MNF, and didn't see the Halftime Report ...
here's an Adam Schefter update on the trade of JG to the Niners:

We had 2 2nd round picks. Ours and the saints.

But is it the Saints one? That would be fantastic.

Unfortunately not according to Schefter.. I hope his info is a bit off haha

we kept our saints pick and traded the niners pick. So like the 33rd or 34th pick etc.

I don't think Jimmy could actually just come in here and start right away I would figure CJ got one last chance.

CJ will be starting for the next few weeks if not longer. If he s**ts the bed like crazy, then Mullens would come in.

Jimmy is going to be wrapped up nice and tight with foam padding for the next few weeks.

This guy or Barkley! Give Jimmy all the help he can get!

A top pick should be Barkley, but the rest of the way can be OL and WR. Just keep away from DL.

I know, but have you seen Bradley Chubb play?
Folks worrying too much about a draft pick as if it's guaranteed gold. We don't need to trade down to get it back. We need to draft the best player maker on the board and give Grapps some weapons.

Nope. He specifically said "The first of two 2nd round picks" Which is like a 1st round pick for the Pats. ( conceivably they could be picking 32nd and 33rd)

The 'Rop completed 67-percent of his passes for 690 yards, five touchdowns, no interceptions, and a passer rating of 106.2. Of course This was with a Super Bowl Caliber team. How will he fare w/ the likes of us?

Lol
