Hey good point. Was just saying it does change the narrative for us trading back. Will need to see how the teams draft postion plays out and who are "all in" for a QB. I guess my point was if you are one that may take a QB it helps the value of the pick.

Right now I think two guys are worth an early pick. Rosen and Jackson. 49ers should be on the board for one of those guys and its likely that someone will be at least considering the possibility of trading for one of them. If Darnold comes out, then so much the better. You just need a team to fall in love with one of these guys to be able to get some nice compensation back and you don't have to trade back too far either.

so, we can do it still

We can front load contracts all we want, but the only thing that impacts our cap room 5 years from now is how much money a player is paid over the 5 years, not when it was paid. $10 million in cap spent in 2018 is equivalent to $10 million spent in 2020 if we're looking at cap room in 2020 and beyond. You and others are acting like spending money now doesn't impact our future cap space.
it does. I'm saying.. say we give him 25 guaranteed of a 50 mill 3 year contract. 20 in the 1st, 2.5 in yr 2 and 3.

we would only be out 2.5 in years 2/3 in dead cap space if it doesn't work out (cut)

Just listened to Tom Brady on the Westwood 1 halftime interview with Jim Gray. Brady sounded legitimately surprised and fairly pissed. I think we just landed a QBotF for a 2nd round pick.......YES, YES, YES!!!!

I bet Jimmy had the total opposite reaction.

No way he wants to start and get paid...reports are NE tried to sign him LT but they couldn't come to a deal and the agent asked for trade.

You know what this means... SAQUAN BARKELY HERE WE COME !!!!!

Hell yea but Jimmy G might win us a few games and Cle might snag him up.

The Browns will draft a QB. They can't pass up another first round QB.

Browns can do anything. But, this gives up so much flexibility. We can trade down for some QB desperate team who is willing to mortgage their immediate future or we draft THE PLAYMAKER from this draft.

If we can draft ahead of the Browns we can trade pick 1 for 2 and rape them like the Bears.

It'll be the Revenant sequel we all want.

Albert Breer was just on an interview on KNBR. He stated you can name all those quarterbacks that learned under Brady and then left. They were just quarterbacks that they were hoping could turn into something. Jimmy Garoppolo was the first that they drafted with the intent to be Tom Brady successor

This is why so many of their fans are pissed right now. Many believe that they are sacrificing the next 10+ years to keep winning right now.

Honestly, how many of you would've traded Steve Young over Montana? Not saying Garoppolo is Young, but I can see why Pats fans are upset. They better win at least 1 more superbowl with Brady at the helm if Garoppolo shows he's a legit stud.

Folks worrying too much about a draft pick as if it's guaranteed gold. We don't need to trade down to get it back. We need to draft the best player maker on the board and give Grapps some weapons.

Win or lose with the trade thanks Kyle and Lynch for renewing my faith.
