Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Los Angeles Rams

Shop 49ers game tickets
No preseason with the team really shows when you faced a good D and especially when TW went down.

Jimmy better step the F up quick or it's going to be a long long season 🤣
idc how many years has Jimmy G been in this offense n for him to play like horse 💩💩💩 there is no excuses but Jimmy G doesn't take accountability he should own up to his mistakes in them press conference n not blame others for his crappy play with his smirks I want a QB that wants to win badly n takes every game seriously with killer instincts during close games to put them away when was the last time we had a QB who was consistent maybe Steve Young

Jimmy G. is a backup QB. Every NFL team has one, they are not supposed to play great and win all the time. He is the only choice at this point, you have to get the best out of him.
1-2, early in the season, plenty of time to recover.
Learn from mistakes, prepare harder and play better in the next game, move on.

Jimmy is NOT a probowler.

This could not be more hilarious. Everybody who was in love with Jimmy has migrated to the Kyle Shanahan thread to call for him to be fired, rather than face the music in this thread.

True. All we heard from this crowd for a long time was that this was a Superbowl caliber roster and we couldn't waste a year developing Trey. Months of preemptively blaming Trey for everything, but Trey gets injured and now they have to find a new target to blame for everything.

LOL right! I knew there was a huge overlap between the Jimmy G fanclub and the "Fire Shanny" crowd.
people complaining about Jimmy G....

would you rather have Nate Sudfeld out there?

He was our backup QB after our starter got hurt

WTF is wrong with you people?

That's what he is and I think he's content with that (so long as the money's coming in).
Now we know why KS wanted to go with T. Lance.

This is laughable. Still talking about Jimmy getting traded with all the oohs and aahs.

There was never any plan to trade Jimmy before September, if even that..

FO had to talk it up for Trey's mental state.

They went through the OTA and training camp motions, did the evaluations, and -- surprise -- said not this year for Trey.

Like, we didn't know that in February.

Then what happened happened. Not gonna get into a discussion about it.

And here we are with Jimmy.

Let's talk about the present.

Jimmy gonna do better with a fixed up arm.

He will do better on turnovers than last year, which was a BIG improvement over 2019 (fumbles).

Start polishing the hardware baby, cuz Jimmy Moses gonna take us to the promised land.

Also, this is kind of pointless, but Moses isn't the one who led the children of Israel into the promised land. That was Joshua.

Fitting if you are of the Christian persuasion, of course, since if I'm not mistaken, Jesus comes from a Greek translation of the Hebrew for Joshua, Yeshua or Yehoshua. /off topic and intended only for nerdy academic inquiry.

Look, I'm not going to crap on Jimmy. I appreciate him just like I appreciate Alex Smith. But like Alex, he is limited which is why we wanted to move off of him for Trey. And we lost this game because Jimmy is who he is. He is a great backup QB, but it sucks that we have to start our backup. But that's where we are.

I know that the explanation/excuse will eventually be overtaken,...but from my vantage point, and as said here....

Just as with Jimmy's play (although different),...the progressions clearly begin on the other side. But the much younger Mahomes (2018?) opts to take advantage of the 1-on-1.

This is the next step in this offense that seems to have never been taken. People are saying they want Jimmy to have more freedom within the offense. I'm just showing an example of it that's pretty clear and available.

In high school when we ran a play like this, the QB was instructed to glance at the safety on the right side at the snap to see if this is a cover two (or some coverage where the corner on the right has the freedom to be aggressive). Pivot/whip routes take time to develop. That was almost certainly the primary, which means there was enough time to glance at the safety on the right side. And if he wasn't back peddling, you throw that out.

I never played the position so good stuff!

Could be the out was just a pre-snap check, and the primary was actually the clearing post. Only 49ers players would know, but my guess is the pivot had to have been what the concept was meant go to. But at least my team in high school certainly would have had the QBs just doing a quick glance at the safety before going through the left progression, which really for us was "throw the pivot or throw the checkdown."

No.

Let's just be honest. This is just karma coming from God to the folks that were cheering last week after Lance got injured.

Jimmy has been known to beat the Rams pretty handily. I wouldn't put this game in the loss column just yet.
