You go Andrew, live yo life man!!!
Heartbreaking. This guy was GREAT.

Pain can make the brain do crazy things... maybe he'll miss the game after a year or so...

I think he will be back. You can really tell this guy loves to play football. But the non stop rehab and now this calf injury has been too much for him. Sucks, always been a fan and will miss his goofy voice and personality.

Draft will have nice QB talent available.
They get out of that awful Luck contract.
He keeps getting hurt anyway.
Chance for Brisset to prove he can maybe be the guy.

How was Luck contract awful? Dude was easily one of the best QBs in the game before injuries piled up. I can guarantee the colts didn't want him to retire and brisset will never be close to what Luck was pre injuries

A Qb that can't stay healthy taking almost 25 million of the team's cap space is awful.
Good for him. Take care of yourself. Poor guy has had a rough go of injuries and from the sounds of it; not a lot of trust in the teams training staff.
Smart move though. It's been a rough last 4 years and I can't imagine the daily pain he must go through.
Luck is a bright guy. As much as he loves football, he did not have to have to football to define who he is as a person. In that he is fortunate. Many former players suffer from staying too long. Many are now playing through great pain, even wishing they could do what Luck has done.

Very good article from NFL.com.

Dude had torn ligaments in his ribs, torn ab muscle, torn up shoulder, a calf injury this year and concussions. His whole body was literally beat to s**t so I def cant blame him. He didnt have too many healthy parts of his body left to give.

I wonder sometimes if his super hype coming out of college contributed to the Colts not protecting him properly. Obviously they were dumb af to put him behind such a crap line season after season, but they prob just thought since he's so "great" he was supposed to overcome that.

It wasn't Luck's fault that bad management failed to provide him with the tools to survive in a violent game.

Luck was well on his way to a HOF career until injuries stopped him.

The team settled with him today and will pay him half his remaining $$, and he won't pay back his signing bonus.

Another way to see this is he didn't take anything, but the team gave him crappy protection, he was beaten to a pulp, labrum + lacerated kidney, and took bad teams to the playoffs.

Absolute truth!

Another "Wake-Up" call to JL/KS to do for the OLine in 2020 what they did for the DLine in 2019.

Ditto.
Pain is pain. Dude has a right to say when is when.
I just heard DB Will Blackmon talking about Luck's retirement and he related his own story about dealing with injuries. I know a lot of fans say that these guys make so much money that they don't feel sorry for them. In Blackmon's case, he sounded a lot like Jimmy Ward. He got hurt his first practice and thought his dream of playing in the NFL was over until they told him they were putting him on IR. He spent all off season rehabbing which he said is way tougher than working out or playing. He comes back and breaks a foot and spends another year rehabbing. He said coming back from injury is a double edge sword. First you have to get healthy and then you have to get over fear of re-injury. In the process, you hurt something else because you are favoring the previous injury. This happens about 4 straight years and he finally gets released. He gets back in shape and ends up with another team and goes to the playoffs.
His story was much longer than this but it really put a different spin on what these guys actually do to not just make the NFL but to stay in it. He said it was always his dream job but for 4 years all he did was get hurt and rehab. No off season vacations or time to unwind. Just hard work to try and stay in the league. He wasn't able to make any long range plans because he was so unsure of his future.
Something to think about when you before calling any player trash.
