This absolutely ridiculous. How do you pay a guy more when he sucks. KS needs to value the guard position more. Person is a better run blocker for sure. Can't believe they would pay this guy 3million. Give that money to Sanders.

brunskill shouldnt be relied upon to pass protect better than tomlinson or person. he was ok, not an improvement.
the latest moves are making it really interesting to debate if OG or CB is the teams biggest draft need.

This. Plus, Person had that neck injury he was battling the last half of the season.

What the f**k!
The #49ers have agreed to terms with former Jets guard Tom Compton on a one-year, $3 million deal, per a league source.

That is not the point. The point is, is this new guy better than Person? More versatile? Person started with us in the last 2 seasons and can play all 3 interior lineman spots. Person was cheaper.

No he didn't he was on a team-option for $2.5M. No dead money nothing.
They paid more for a worse RG that's coming off of IR.
It's junk

Paid nearly equal to Person but Person has chemistry/experience with the current 49ers OL.

I wish that Lynch and Shanahan would just use the 31st pick, our perhaps trade it for a 2nd rounder in ordered to get a quality guard whose specialty is pass protection. He needs to think about his QB and keeping him upright.

Either way, you gotta love FA. It's enough sports to get us on here and argue if we overpaid for a backup interior lineman based on PFF grades.

This looks dumb on the surface but based on Paraag's and Kyle's knowledge there must be a reason they did this. They either know something we don't or they just felt Person wasn't going to be in the picture. Just because they signed Compton doesn't mean they keep him. They'll take a look and cut him if they don't like what they see.

moves like this tell me that is what the plan is. this guy although being paid starter money is almost surely not being planned on being the starter in a year where we need an improvement there. they are planning on using a higher draft pick on the starter. either pick 31 or a high second.
