Mac Jones-QB-Jaguars

I always liked Mac Jones to which before the trade up I thought we needed to jump Carolina to get him. Heck, I originally thought he would be there at 12, but then started to think it wasn't possible. Figured a draft day trade would happen around 5 or 6 to do it. When I factored that in, I started to think Mac Jones at 12 was a pipe dream and wondered if Trey Lance would fall to 12 if Mac Jones was moving up. I fell in love with Lance at 12 and gave up on Mac Jones being an option. Then after Trey Lance Pro Day, it seemed like Trey Lance jumped up while questions persisted about Justin Fields. A part of me thought Trey Lance to Denver was likely but maybe Fields would drop to 12. I started to fall in love with Justin Fields as he was falling in mock drafts.

Now that we traded up, I am torn as I have fallen in love with all three QBs to the point where I will be happy regardless. The concern I have with Mac Jones will be the media meltdown and the zone meltdown if he is picked. Oddly, I can see him in a Niners uniform and am happy with that, but that is with all three now. I am one that sees a lot to like with all of them. Throw in that Kyle has had success with many different QBs makes it seem more easy to accept whatever happens.

That said, I am enjoying the back and forth on the zone along with the talking heads going back and forth. We still get a couple more weeks of this and then I plan to pregame on draft day. Might get too crazy in my house that I black out before the pick is in at #3.

It really has, but at least I have happily envisioned each of them being the QB of the future.

The trade up has made me bounce around to my preference. I voted preferred choice on all three in the polls because separately they were at some point. Super glad I am not pulling the trigger on this pick.

So yes it's the same battle, prop up your guy while sitting on the other. Both sides are guilty and the proof is in the threads.

One problem. No one is tearing down Jones because they just happen to like Fields more. If anything most would prefer Wilson.

You grasping at straws here, playing semantics and looking for a way to be right. My point is my point and it the proof is in these threads anc it is very clear.

Exactly. It is what it is but none of it makes a difference in who we pick. It's fine to have a favorite but one does not need to tear another guy down to build there guy up. I don't care about the name of the guy we pick, I care about that pick becoming a FQB for us.

Okay you are now at the point at just repeating what i said. I'm out.

Probably the most reasonable/agreeable post in this thread yet lol

Who is that? Tim Rattay?

Fields has some trouble recognizing blitzes and seeing the open guy. That's not uncontroversial among people who actually know what they're talking about (and prove it with the aforementioned All 22 film you speak of). But he also has INSANE arm talent and physical abilities. You draft him because you believe you can coach him up enough on his weaknesses that they aren't massive problems, and allow his talents to shine through.

EDIT - who promised to stop being a 49er fan if they draft Jones? I saw people say they'd disappear until the regular season, but that's not the same thing. I left all 49ers message boards for more than a year after the 2012-13 Super Bowl (due to depression). But I was still a 49er fan.

Feel your pain, they (SB losses) were both pretty gut wrenching but the last one was worse for me. 2012-13 felt like we were out of it early, lights went out, giant missed holding call on Bruce Miller during the Jacoby Jones KO return TD, the comeback, questionable play calling at the end. How we couldn't stop Flacco I'll never get. The last just felt completely ripped from us on multiple levels after leading the entire game. Period. Well that took my mind off drafting Mac for a minute.....thanks.

Mac Jones ceiling is Shawn hill with Kyle boosting him a bit. Dude already has bad knees have you seen that clip of him jogging. He jogs like I do. And I have no ACL and no meniscus. I am scared to death if the Niners put faith in him for the future of the franchise. I'll say this I was one of the first people to support signing Jimmy Garoppolo on this board. And I'm one of the people that don't want him anywhere near the Niners now. But I would gladly take Jimmy Garoppolo over the next 10 years yes 10 over Mac Jones
