He's an elite pocket passer - much better than James.

Strongly disagree...People are saying that but it doesn't show up on the tape. There is nothing that screams elite about Mac's game. He is very good at a lot of things, He is a little more shifty in the pocket but he has no where near an elite arm or legs or really anything. He isn't going to unlock the deep ball for us, he isn't going to bring a facet to the running game we didn't have. We are largely going to get a plug and play of Jimmy that ideally stays more healthy. Sure over time he might edge him out slightly in a few statistics but he brings literally nothing new to the table that Jimmy wasn't save for hopefully availability and definitely a much cheaper contract for about 4 years.

But, that's what Shanny is looking for - a better version of Jimmy. Someone with accuracy and touch. And, he can also throw the deep ball.

A- you have zero idea what Shanny is looking for so stop saying things like that.... B- it is really debatable that he will be more accurate, I think he will but he has to do it in the pros first and C- he has no where near an elite arm so I don't know where you get the deep ball stuff from. It is listed as a weakness on every scouting report, he blew the deep throws at his pro day and in several games that I watched he never hit one that wasn't wide open and few of those in stride.

Look at the pockets he has with these underthrown deep balls....

His deep ball is definitely not on par with the other top QBs, but you rarely see him overthrow or throw it to where his receiver can't make a play on it, like Jimmy tends to.

That's a double edge sword though isn't it? Your not playing against college level safeties in the NFL. A lot of them will turn around to look for the ball. Overthrow = incomplete, underthrown = chance for incomplete, completion, interception.

All I'm saying, is I wouldn't say Mac is elite at the deep ball, I certainly wouldn't say he is better than Fields. Jimmy maybe, but that's a low bar.

If Mac is so good why did he have to sit behind both Tua and Hurts? The potential 3rd pick shouldn't have to sit behind those two until his senior year.

You could say the same thing about Burrow too.
But then there´s Trubisky also.
Ultimately, players improve at their rythms. Maybe Jones is a late boomer.

I didn't even think about this... but it definitely explains the dad bod. Is it possible Mac Jones is actually a boomer in disguise?

Anyone else have those friends who have an eternal baby face and always look 18 years old? My brother in law is like that.

No he's not an elite pocket passing QB. He's a 17 game starter that had a lot of his throws on the first read ( a 3rd of his passes were RPOs/Bubble screens). It's not like he was a Manning when going past that first read either.

So we all know the meltdown is coming.. but how long does it last? We gonna hear crying all off season?

All Jimmy did was throw deep balls in college. weird how it didn't translate.

Rosen was real good vs the blitz and under pressure in college...didn't translate. Dude was more pro ready than Jones and might not even make it on our final roster.

Allen and Mahomes were awful vs blitzes/pressure in college...look at them now.

Yup. Safe bet. Then again, he'll probably be sitting all year so it'll just be hypothetical cries.
