Drew Brees by far and away had the best game vs us. He threw for 340 yards 5 td's and they scored 40. We won because our statue played well that game too.

Half of our defense was injured in that game and didn't play. They targeted Marcell Harris like crazy. In the games where are defense was mostly healthy, particular our pass rush, no pocket QB was effective against us. If we had played Brady in that Super Bowl we would have won by 30.

Dude! In 2019 we beat Cam Newton, Russell Wilson 1 of 2, Kyle Murray 2 or 2, Aaron Rodgers 2 or 2.

Lost to Mahomes, Lamar Wilson once.

6-3 versus mobile QBs in 2019. 7-3 if you count Mayfield as mobile.

Until Doc gets us a real one, it's a wasted exaggeration that can never go anywhere.

btw,...we just traded away the farm simply to get in a position for a highly talented rook. That tells me if they didn't get it before (Player >>>> "good" coaching and stability hyperbole)

Agree to disagree. Look at Tannehill working with Gase and Tannehill working with Arthur Smith in Tennessee. Location matters a lot.

Unless you want to argue that Aaron Rodgers and Alex Smith would have had the exact same career paths had they swapped teams with Alex getting to understudy Favre for three years and Rodgers having been thrown to the wolves under Rollin and Singletary.

We didn't play Cam Newton in 2019. We played Kyle Allen. And Murray and Wilson still lit us up in the games we beat them. We literally could not stop Wilson in the second half of the game in Seattle.

Alex Smith is pretty good proof by himself. Never was going to be an elite QB, but was a disaster with Nolan/Singletary and good with Harbaugh and Reid.

Rodgers would of flamed out if drafted by the 49ers #1. Nolan would of played him from year one and with him not able to rebuild his mechanics, like they did in GB, would of gotten killed on that team with no talent. Also with him kind of being a dick no way does he handle it as well as Alex did.

So we adding caveats? If we don't miss a FG in OT we beat Wilson the game we lost.

Ford never plays. 30 percent of downs on the year. So he's a who cares. The secondary got banged up but that's football. We can do that with every game and just come up with excuses.

And NE was a wild card loser so we probably should be able to beat them.

Define often, all your examples showed up in the last few years

Aaron Rodgers, Ryan Tannehill, Russell Wilson.

If we are entering into the realm of fanciful guess and what ifs....

Lol sure why not go for broke, only Mahomes could beat the 49ers lol.

Do you think Tom Brady on the Chiefs, with those weapons could not beat the 49ers? Seriously?

Ill be 100% straight with you, expecting any of current mobile prospects to be Mahomes is as absurd as expecting Jones to be Tom Brady.

The fact we are using Mahomes as an example of WHY to draft a scrambler, IS ACTUALLY worse then using Brady as an example as to why to draft Jones. At least the NFL has a massive history of functional pocket QBs.

Actually with that OLine against that defense, no I don't think Brady would have won. When healthy not even Rodgers could do anything against that defense. Brees and Ryan played us without Tartt, Kwan, and Sherman (got hurt in the NO game and didn't play in ATL game). Besides them, only mobile QBs had a chance against that team.

Let me ask you this. You put Mahomes on TB and Brady on KC, who wins this past SB?

Tarrt, Kwan, and Kwon were out that game (Al Shair and Marcell Harris were torched that game, especially before Cook got hurt). Moseley was banged us so Spoon started. And Sherman left the game early, then and injured Moseley was playing nickel and gave up a TD because he didn't know he was supposed to kick outside when Sherman went out and two people were covering the slot WR.

That defense, when healthy, didn't struggle against pocket QBs. Even Rodgers had no shot.

You can run down the injury report on every game including the ones vs scrambling qb's. It's pointless and only done to marginalize an @ kicking that we took. The team also lost to the Falcons and Matty Ice and Matty didn't light us up but 220 2 tds, 0 picks. 29 points. That's better than what Mahomes did to us.

But last time I checked it's not like we're going to play ourselves anyways. Taking a mobile QB to beat our defense doesn't quite add up.
