Sarkisian sat down with Todd McShay on ESPN's CFB Podcast and broke down everything he threw at Jones last season. While Alabama had projected first round receivers DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle, Sarkisian threw everything but the kitchen sink at Jones in the Crimson Tide offense.

You can read? Congrats.

Just once in a while.

I think that's something everyone already suspected, but it's nice to see it confirmed.

Put him on another team and he's probably a mid round pick at best.

The coaching he had at Alabama was unreal. One thing I love about Nick Saban is that he has zero ego. He trusts his assistants. He told Steve Sarkisian to build him the perfect offense and the man did it.

The way they out schemed and coached OSU in the title game was something to behold.

Or was he able to do that because Mac sat, studied and took off the more he played?

The second game we did in the middle of the season, (Sarkisian) said, 'You know, I'm starting to install more, and he's showing me more.'

"And by the third game that we did at the end of the year, Sark said to us he has installed more with Mac Jones than he had with any other college quarterback. So that's the mental aptitude that he has."

Lol yeah the kitchen sink aka a 3rd of his passing attempts were at the LOS

like ben said to you
This is another instance in which we get wrapped up in buzzwords. To my eyes, giving Mac control at LOS in this offense mostly meant letting him count box numbers.

It is not to Mac's detriment that they built the offense to his strengths! It's just an integral part of the eval.

Alabama coaches pumping up Jones like they pumped up Froster.

I don't classify myself as a hater, but I see a lot of comments confused about the emotional reaction to Mac Jones. I know he would have been a little more accepted if we took him at 12. But to give up what we did to move up to take what people are calling "a great processor" is gonna fan some flames.
I would take the best non quarterback on the board to help the team this year, and classify as an all pro before I can accept Mac Jones. Don't hate em'. Not a good use of resources.

It's really all about philosophy like Cossell said, whether you're inside NFL circles, coaches, personnel or fans.

Mac - elite accuracy, intelligence, processing and leadership. Physically, average and below average off schedule ability. Sarkisian threw everything but the kitchen sink at Jones in the Crimson Tide offense and gave him more freedom than any QB he's ever had. The end results spoke for themselves

Fields/Lance - elite top athletic profiles, mobility to escape and create off schedule throws but run as a last resort, excellent for a move offense, eye popping 40's, big arms, untapped ceiling and diversity. Very very bright.

Mac's college experience is further proof all 3 should sit for a year. All have unique elite skill sets. Kyle will get the max from each.

Can't wait for 2022.

You just love posting tweets from some random people in an attempt to prove your theory. No, I will not listen to Mr. AP physics about football.

He looks like Mac Jones if he wasn't obese.

He's already gone quiet on that because he ignored the entire part about how he opened up the full offense and gave him more than any QB. Zero'd in on the least important part of the LOS "buzzwords."

You are aware that full offenses typically have a s**t ton of short RAC designs too. Have you heard of Kyle Shanahan? When you have elite RAC monsters like Deebo and Aiyuk, you're QB can actually have negative air yards with monster RAC. That's more if a testament to the type of skill sets a team has than an indictment of the QB himself.

I just find it funny when other quarterbacks take advantage of those kinds of throws it's a gimmicky offense that wont work in the NFL, but when Mac does it, it's because he is a football genius with the brain of a computer.

I get that. Honestly, unless he audibles correctly to a successful play after seeing the defense (and he's given that freedom), or really stinks at those quick touch passes (like Kaepernick or even Garoppolo at times), they should probably be thrown out or greatly minimized in the evaluation part.

Ben has 42k followers and is one of the head scouts at one of the best draft coverage sites around.

I take that back you shouldn't listen to him because it's way over your head...just stick to Dan Campbell ankle bitting lol
