Circumstances are very different. Leverage between Watson and Wilson are very different. This in no way sets the market price.

Neither GM has said they will move said player. Both guys are stuck under long term deals. I disagree. You'll have to blow the Texans away to get them to budge at this point. Watson like Wilson doesn't have as much leverage as they believe.

Watson has stated he wont play for the Texans anymore. Wilson has not. Wilson is likely trying to leverage the team to get him help. Watson is not.

The situations are not the same.

Watson is under contract until 2026...if they don't want to move him they won't.

Watson loses out on $20m if he doesnt play this year. Allot of drama can be put to bed when it really comes time to give up paychecks.

It would just extend his career by sitting out another year . QBs are playing much longer so this contract won't be nearly as big as the next 1-2 contracts.

and he is sitting on $40 mil

sportrac has him getting $10 mil next year
3 1sts, 2 starters a few other high picks for a perennial non MVP candidate lol. hes too much of a boyscout to actually sit out so the seahawks dont have to budge if they dont want to

That's where I got the $20m.

Anyways the counter point being that health is the ultimate unknown with no guarantee of a long career but also at the end of the career he would be $10-20m richer had he just played. But who knows with the news it just got allot easier for him to get a "fresh start." Houston has a holier than thou excuse and Watson wouldnt be the first player to get "me too'd" and have it blow over by the constant DUIs and other abuses bound to pop up by others over the summer.

Honestly in his efforts to leave, this accusation is probably a good thing. Reports are that they traded Hopkins for peanuts because he had too many baby mommas for their likings. The Texans really are trying to win with choir boys.

collinsworth probably had Willows pickle in his mouth when grading him.
Is the equivalent value of three 1st round picks in the upper 20's even worth say the number 2 overall pick? There's such a huge drop off in the value of 1st round picks after the top 5 or 10 that those details matter.
Wait for the draft that's when Wilson and Watson will be on the move.

If Watson doesn't play, he'll be fined. If he tries to retire, Houston will still own his right. Watson has very little leverage. Watson should just keep his mouth shut and play ball.

If there is that much animosity towards the team he should show up and dog it.

Not classy, but may be effective.
