Brock getting hurt was such a cold shower. I believe he can help take us all the way if healthy. Hoping he makes a great recovery. We were just so ripped off lol.

The Chiefs would have beat us. Losing the NFC Championship is kind of better than losing another Super Bowl to the Chiefs. We didn't even lose. We got injured and had no chance.
I disagree. This team was playing phenomenal
I also disagree. It would have been a good match up. I am not glad we lost to the Eagles. It would have been so awesome to see Brock beat Mahomes, I believe it could have happened! And our D could have put up quite the fight. I think it would have been the game of all games maybe. Just wish we would have gotten a shot.
we got no QB
I think that is the point he is making
Chiefs would murder a no QB 49ers team.
Assuming Purdy is 100% healthy, I agree with you.... I think we had a real shot, the team was rolling along nicely.
Oh well of course. With no qb we would not have won & didn't win. That is pretty obvious. A scenario where somehow Johnson didn't suck as bad, didn't get injured & we got in... lol no doubt we would have lost to KC. Idk if Jimmy would have been healthy enough to play at all. Sounds like his time is up in Santa Clara. Who knows.

Tonight is yet another of the countless examples of why people who blamed our defense for losing to the Chiefs are silly. If you score 20 points in the Superbowl, you can pretty much count on losing.

Our secondary is more suspect than the Eagles. If we had Mosely out there with Ward maybe, also we need better DT, we still haven't recovered from losing DeForest Buckner. Kinlaw is a bust. It Also need Danny Gray to develop as a deep threat WR.

You guts are missing the point. Except for the fumble, Hurts and the offense did fine. It's their defense that got smoked. Our defense wasn't much better than the Eagles. Y'all aren't being realistic, the Chiefs would have murdered us, with or without a healthy QB.

I think our players would play with a bigger chip on their shoulders than the eagles and we would win with a healthy QB.

Yeah, we are not going to see eye to eye on this.
I don't think a healthy 49ers defense is giving up 6 yards a carry the way the Eagles just did. I think our defense is much better then what the Eagles just showed.
By all means....you do you....... but I am not buying what you are selling.
The 49ers would have had a shot, they would not have been murdered.

In the end, Pat Mahomes struck again. High ankle strain? No problem.
Let's just put it this way, if the Eagles' D with that D-line couldn't stop Mahomes, the 9ers' D certainly wouldn't have neither which explained why they destroyed us during this regular season.
In other words, even if we had beaten the Eagles, it probably wouldn't have mattered in the bigger scheme of things or at least that is what I am telling myself. So, I am in no way upset about the season, but for me I feel this is a moment for retrospection.
It was supposed to be a smokescreen when Lynch went down to Mahomes' pro day. What if Shanahan had listened to Lynch when he called back suggesting perhaps they should reconsider their original plan of drafting Solomon Thomas and take Mahomes instead in 2017? In all honesty, at the time Shanahan was still firmly stuck in his mold of "pocket passers are always better than mobile QBs" as shown by his insistence in drafting both Cousins when he was with Washington and Beathard when he got to the 9ers. So, in that sense I guess he would have never agreed to drafting Mahomes.
But, what if he did? Do you think we might have won the Super Bowl in 2019 or 2021or may be even this year?
I am not trying to live in the past and obviously that ship has long sailed. I am just coming from more of a philosophical angle. Have you sometimes wondered about what if you had chosen differently with certain key decisions in your life? What if you had married your ex instead? Or what if you had accepted another offer from another firm? Or what if you had decided to live in another city of even country?
My point is this, a decision of this magnitude can absolutely rewrite the course of history. This is no different to when you decide to take an undersized DT (who turned out to be a bust) over a QB (who turned out to be a future HOFer). It is like coming to a fork in the road and you choose to take one direction over the other and everything projects from that point on and turns out into a completely different outcome.
And in the case of the 9ers, Shanahan made that decision and that could have absolutely changed the course of history for this team.
I was a late joiner to Webzone, that was back in 2011 if I remember right and yet it has been 11 coming to 12 years already. For those of you who were in your 20s back then, you might have got married and had your first kid already. Those of you who were in your 40s back then, you might have even retired by now. Time waits for no one. Shanahan has been here for coming 6 years already by the time next season starts. It is not totally inconceivable that he may never win a Super Bowl for the 9ers. If we are talking about the current window, Trent will be 35 next year, Kittle and Armstead will be 30. On top of that, we are yet to pay Bosa and our cap room is filled up to the brim whereby it will be hard to add any impact player. Shanahan's extended contract will be up by the end of 2025, if we still don't win a Super Bowl by then, do you think he will be automatically extended again? Hard to say perhaps? Even Andy Reid eventually wore out his welcome in Philadelphia after 13 years when he couldn't produce a Super Bowl.
That is what one key wrong decision could do to a Head Coach, a team as well as its fans. It has consequences.
That is life, folks.
In the meantime, the wait continues...

With all due respect, some of y'all are tripping saying we would have been smoked even if we had a healthy QB. I don't understand how y'all came away from that game feeling that way at all. First off, other than a game we had no QB, the Niners have not been smoked in the playoffs ever in our last 6 appearances. The Eagles secondary was not better than ours even with Moseley out. They had the big names but Bradberry was killed often, they looked suspect, especially in the middle of the field with their backers. And that KC defense looked like swish cheese. Brock would have eaten that up. I don't care what happened in 2019, those aren't the same Chiefs and Brock isn't Jimmy. We also have CMC. Imagine what he does to KC? I think The Eagles, well they definitely have a better pass rush, they have nowhere close to the LB play that we have. Fred Warner is THAT good. And this is a defense that has been together for the most part, they also cause the most turnovers. I firmly believe this D would have forced at least 2 turnovers and that could have been the difference in the game. With that said, it absolutely would have been close and could go either way. But no way in my mind do we get blown out by KC, or anyone for that matter. This team is too good and Kyle was coaching his butt off heading into that NFC Title game. Just my two cents.

That was far from a blatant hold.
Exactly. Rules aside, unless it's blatant, you cannot let refs decide games in those situations. If you're not gonna call the Crabtree SB hold, then you can't call this. The pisser in all this is there is no consistency with these f**king refs. There was a critical 3rd down earlier in the game where JuJu got mugged by the defender. It's completely missed by the ref. But then on this third down with a minute left in the game, the ref decides to call a hold. It just blows that these refs just don't get it.

The Eagles had a better defense than us overall. Even if you give our offense a slight edge, we have a coach that doesn't take any risks. KC would have blown us out of the water, similar to our season matchup.
In hindsight I'm glad we didn't get this opportunity to embarrass ourselves. Our best hope with Kyle is going into a SB where the opposition has a mediocre QB that can't make a comeback when we're winning 17-7 or 17-10 late in the 4th. Anyone with a capable QB you know Kyle will curl up into a fetal position and s**t the bed…

Perhaps this is why we're talking past each other... are you talking about something completely different than when Bradberry held Juju Smith-Schuster?
JJSS was running a route, went inside, then tried to release outside; Bradberry was beat and tugged his jersey to yank him back so he couldn't get separation. It may have had a huge impact on the play - perhaps it was a quick-breaking route - and Mahomes had to scramble after JJSS wasn't immediately open. We don't know who the hot route was, and neither do the refs, meaning they can't just pick up the flag because they think the defensive holding didn't impact anything.
But you're talking about "momentary interference" that happened "behind the line of scrimmage". That's not the Bradberry hold, which happened during JJSS's route. What play are you talking about? Maybe that's why you didn't see what the rest of us plainly saw?

I'm pretty sure the eagles would've had 1 time out still. And they were moving the ball all game. I think it would've been fairly likely that they could've gotten in FG range and possibly send it it to OT.
