Many of us here on the webzone talk highly of Joe Staley and yes he was head turner in his rookie year at RT, but do you think Niner fans give too much credit to Staley then he actually deserves? Do you feel he is a dominant LT in the league and other fans around the league know of him. IMO I think he is just a name that us Niner fans know because we follow the team, he isn't too impressive and dominant that us Niner fans make him out to be. Staley doesn't control and shutdown the blind side as we give him credit. I always thought he is a bit overrated, I'm sure I'll get flamed from all the Joe Staley homers.

He is an above average LT but nowhere near elite or dominant

I agree. He stands out on our O-line because almost everybody else sucks.

i don't think the zone necessarily overrates him. he is just one of the better starters we have on the Oline. but in a year or two i can see him make a push for the pro bowl, ofcourse the team would have to be winning games.
what that website wit the weird stats. it had staley rated high.
Average to above average and really nothing more.

I've personally thought that he could be a better run blocker.

I never really expected him to be a dominant run blocker, a good pass protector yes, run blocker no. I mean how much do you really expect from a converted TE?

Of course, he could still improve and prove me wrong, but he is exactly what I thought he would be.
staley played 9 games last year
allowed

5 QB hits
4 QB pressures.

on the other hand Snyder played all 16

Interesting, how does it stack up against other LTs?

He's overrated by most 9er fans. He's an above average starter, which isn't bad. But they treat him like he's a pro-bowler
