NaVorro Bowman has retired

One of the greats whose HOF-level run was cut too short. He'll never see it because he didn't play at a high level long enough, but boy was he great during that run. I also think he should've been DPOY in 2013. I'll never forget him holding onto what SHOULD HAVE been a fumble recovery in the NFCCG despite being injured.
The NFC title game for the 2012 season against the Falcons. Falcons are in 4th and 4 at the 9ers 10 yd line. If the Falcons score they will take the lead with not much time on the clock. If they are stopped, the 9ers can come pretty close to running out the clock (well, with Gore getting a first down). On that fourth down Bowman anticipates where Roddy White will run his route and knocks the pass down - and knocks down Roddy White for good measure. Brutally beautiful.

Glad you are coming back to retire as a 9er, Bow. Thanks for all the memories like the one above.
Welcome home, sir.

"I was a guy coming from District Heights, Maryland, and this was the organization that chose to let me play in the NFL," Bowman said. "I just felt like where you started is — no matter how things are going to go, relationships are going to go up and down all the time, but you always remember how it was.

"You remember the blood, sweat, and tears of the guys you played with, and the respect that you earned, that's not given to you. I feel like the 49ers is my home, and it's the place that loved me from the start. So I wanted to come back and retire as a Niner, and they welcomed me, so I'm glad it happened."

"Today was great," he said. "I wouldn't be here if I had any bad feelings towards anybody in the organization. I'm just glad everyone welcomed me with open arms."

I'm still pissed about that entire sequence. The fans throwing s**t at him as he was carted off and the fact the NFL changed the fumble recovery rules after that season specifically because that call was BS.

Will always remember him closing out the stick in style...one of the greatest football moments of the post dynasty era.

For real. Saleh about to lose his job.
Whoa there. Idk about that. I was being nice. This is the same guy that said that he always wanted to be a raider.

I'd take Bowman and his zero experience as a coach over the garbage Saleh has given us.
I usually can't watch a (ex)player talk for 10 minutes in the Q&A setting like that but Bo is cool as s*it.
Great Niner. Respect.

Refs screwed them big time in both games. Obvious fumble by the giants not called, which would have sealed that game. And the numerous non-calls in the SB was just embarrassing.

"Forward progress was stopped."

Yeah, that's a bunch of BS, and the rule should change.
If the ball carrier is attempting to gain more yards, it should remain an active play.

I blame Kyle Williams and Alex Smith's inability to throw to anyone not named Vernon Davis in that first one. As for the SB, I think Harbaugh didnt prep the team well enough and it showed. That and calling TO in the last few minutes of that game killed the team's momentum.

smith smith and brooks all had bad arms... however we still had bowman and willis in elite form. but no. the dc thought it a good idea to have those two set around playing checkers in pass coverage. knowing the other three had bad arms. and let joe carve us up, should have brought willis and henchman bow with more pressure that game

Pretty much.

Man, seeing some of these old highlights makes me realize how much I miss those teams.
glad to hear it.. for the last couple of weeks. it seems to me. all i have heard is the downgrading or diluting of what jh did with those teams in order to prop up kyle and lynch

He talks about the play where he tore up his knee, wondering "should he have let him score" and not sacrificed his body. But he has no regrets. Absolutely sacrificed himself for his teammates, coaches, and fans. So much respect!

You guys got it all wrong. One of the memorable moments was a regular season game against the Rams when he made an obscene gesture to then coach Jeff Fisher.

Jeff Fisher to referee: "I don't believe it! The son' b***h flipped me off!"

Ref: "Who?"

Jeff Fisher: "#53!"

Lol
