On another note, wth happened to the pass rush?

To see such a drop off from the seattle game to the raider game only had one thought spinning in my head. The defense quit. They finally had enough and they looked like they were mailing it in. Im sorry, your playing the raiders. No way the raiders make out defense look like that unless the defense dialed it down 5 or 6 points.
There was pass rush. None. I don't recall Lynch or Aldon's names even being mentioned.

The D was playing as if fatigued or as if they collectively decided to go through the motions.

These types of performances often occur in "trap games." I know that is no excuse, and that the iners could not afford a let down. But few things make sense this year.
^^^ That's what I "saw" too...I saw an entire team just pack it in. They just didn't care...no sense of passion, urgency, season on the lines, etc. They were done. And I only expect them to play worse going forward.

Yah benching Brooks was a great decision.
does this offense even run play action anymore? I guess we don't even bother since we don't even run the ball

Totally agree with point 2. Kap deserves criticism for his poor play, but most of his critics do not understand the concepts this offense is built on. He's a single read QB because this offense handcuffs him to be one. Expecting him to go through progression reads is impossible. You cannot operate outside the parameters of the offense. There are no progressions, and this was the case with Alex as well. Only difference is that this offense is 4 years old, defenses adapted, and this philosophy has been exposed for the gimmick it is. Harbaugh is incapable of changing the offense, he's married to it, and that's why management is about to show him the door.

There are progressions..... You're quite wrong about that.. That 3rd down to crabs was all design. Kap just sticks to his first read and has trouble getting through them.
Well said Marvin...I agree totally with all of your accessments..I've come to read very few posts on the webzone anymore because of all crap that is posted. Fans that are so knee jerk, emotional or just off the wall make it not fun to read. But you have the type of posts that SHOULD dominate this site. Well thought out and your years of watching and being a fan shows. I too have been a fan for over 30 years and it's easy to pick out the people that don't have a clue when they post. I agree that Kap has regressed and some of the blame has to be obsolved by the coach, Thanks for the sense of calm, as I've been so pissed after yesterdays game that I have not been able to see the trees for the forest , so to speak, I'm am still concerned though that the Seachickens are going to thump us next week and may even win the division again. Those thoughts make me sick. Let'a just hope that we get a top notch coach that can maybe bring back some form of the WCO. Makes me sick to watch teams like Green Bay, Pats etc have succesful exciting offenses when it all started here! Think I'll go back to watching replays of the SF Giants World Series run to bring back the joy!

best post that will be in this thrread.

Agree. Great job as always Marvin49
Khalil Mack: It was a little shocking the 49ers didn't try to run the ball more. I guess they want to keep in the ball in Kaepernick hands.

just goes to show, unless you are a niner fan and actually follow the team on a weekly basis, people have no idea how little we actually run the ball with our backs
Great post again, marvin.

Just one tiny disagreement. I don't think kap will be here next yr. Can you really imagine kap here again, showing us over and over how he can't do....(you name it and fill in the blanks). The immaturity which was minimal at first is obnoxious. The "looking good" is obnoxious. The looking at guys passrushiing him instead of looking down the field(exactly like that little shrimp from across the bay did)...is awful. You can't teach that. You either have guts or you don't. Kap didn't score well in this category. The inaccuracy with short passes, medium range and my favorite...heaving the ball downfield as far as it will go...that is worse than awful. Please tell me we won't see this kid on the field next yr wearing our uniform. Get a real Qb. Someone not as talented and teach him up. Just don't let the teacher be Harbaugh...jim, that is. And please, don't let the name roman ever be heard again when talking about the niners. In sum JImbo+ roman+ kap.....across the bay, or anywhere would be just fine with me. We bombed on all 3 and I just don't see what you do in remaking of kap into a pocket passer. FRankly altho he scored well on his wonderlic... I wonder.
Thanks Marv for all the work this season.

1). Agree on Kap.
There was a time in the beginning that he made excellent reads and throws. I'm NOT an expert but I can tell he's not the same guy. I blame the coaching on one hand and also the scheme. He needs a real coach. We've all sen the talent he has to succeed - BUT there are missing pieces.

Also, I've mentioned this a few times over the past few years. He NEEDS an adult MENTOR who can guide him and prepare him for the sharks in the media and else where. He still young and VERY, VERY immature. He is going through a great deal of adversity and doesn't know how to handle it. He needs help - fast

2). Our guys looked beat when they walked on the field. They looked beaten on both sides of the ball.

JH, Roman, our WR coach, Mangini and company need to leave as soon as the season is over.

Hopefully Trent can get something for them in a trade.

I'm not sure i agree on scheme part.
we used to have built in audibles allowing the QB to swap the play based on pre snap reads and we have built in checkdowns
look at all the pictures with the rb's and other players wide open while kap ignores them, its there.
he doesnt get off the primary WR - the previous QB was completing over 70% of his passes before getting hurt and a lot of that was hitting the built in checkdowns.

if the QB ignores open wr's then how can you fault the system?
his pre snap reads are piss poor (RG3 style)
post snap reads are poor
he is gunshy and bailing into trouble even when there is a pocket and he misses everyone that is not the primary wr.
and he cant hit anthing deep
It seems that Kap's problems are entirely emotional. I get a sense of pathetic self-pity when I look at him. It has shut down his rational judgement and his joy. He is seeing not just football, but life through a very narrow tunnel. The only way he will be able to play to his ability, which is not just physical, BTW, is to face the truth about himself: he's just another person, and no one cares about him if he cares only about himself. No matter how much he tries to improve himself with study and hours at the gym, he has to give up trying to prove his superiority. It's just a game, and he's forgotten what playing means.

I did see Aldon jogging down the field behind a scrambling Carr. Looked like he wasn't into this game either. It looked to me like even the defense has given up. An INT on the first play doesn't give the defense any hope that any effort on their part will make any difference. I'm blown away over how bad this offense has become. I look back at the teams that they have played and struggled against to win and some of the dogs they lost to and can't believe it crumbled so fast.
I'm no QB guru but I think Kap should spend a little less time building his biceps and work on the muscle between the ears watching film. Has the offense changed since he came in or have they tried to keep him in the pocket all the time? Maybe they should call one play and go with it. Don't give him so much on his plate. Unleash the Kappen.
