I agree with your entire post, except the Gabbert jersey part. I don't care for him as a qb... I won't root against him though and pray at night for him to fail, because I didn't get my way.

It is known to some... Some think one is great because of what he did in his past and some think one is great because well hell I don't know... Still trying to figure that one out... Either way we need a qb next year.

What about all the guys in the preseason Hall of Fame who never took a snap in a regular season NFL game?
I could be wrong, but I don't think I am... I don't think that had as much to do with your superior football intellect as it did your dislike of Kap as a person and player.

I sure agree with the first part of your post. 1st time out against a tough blitzing D, Kap looked poor. Awful, but no worse than he looked end of 2014 season and first half of 2015 season. Actually , he looked exactly like he did his first time out, last week. Couldn't read D's, couldn't get thru progressions, didn't see the field and took off . Yes , he looked good Thurs against the 2s and 3s, with no blitzing, but that isn't the real NFL. Last week was. So all that can be said of Thurs performance is, against weak competition, 2s and 3s, Kap looked fine. No blitzing, and he did well. But he wasn't challenged like he was last week, so until that happens, we don't know any more about him than we did after last week's appearance against 1s and 2s and full on blitzes. If a team wants a QB who can play good against 2s and 3s, well, we got him....and they can have him. Because right now against tough opponents and blitzing, Kap has looked like he did last two yrs when he was playing...ie, not very good.
I guess if we want a $14 mil backup Qb, who if he gets injured again, we have to pay him another $14 mil for next yr....well then, hey, then, we have our man. Politics aside, Kap has managed to stay static or actually regress in QB play and QB skills...the two most important of which, are reading a D and going thru progressions. Going back to end 2014 and 1st half 2015, he is still the same guy. Can't do either of the things needed to be a successful QB in NFL. NotForLong, bubba, not for long.
The good part was that if the Vikes really liked what they saw, maybe they are interested. So his Thurs nite performance was a positive, re: trade. But if we factor in what a real D with tough blitzers do to Kap, well, then, ummm, not so desirable. And as a $14 mil backup? Wow, pretty expensive for a guy who can't handle tough NFL Ds.

Originally posted by BobS:He didn't look good, you are extremely biased. He averaged 5.7 yards per attempt and had a 76.9 rating, those are bottom feeder numbers. He did it throwing to guys who were pretty open and he had good protection. It wasn't against even backups, it was against guys who don't have NFL talent and will be cut they won't be backing up anyone. Kap led the team to 9 points, career third stringer Ponder led the team to 22 against the same group. As much as I think Kap sucks I even expected him to do better against San Diego because it was the last preseason game.
Hahaha I remember a previous qb we had, he was usually the preseason MVP, with great mechanics, athletic, etc etc,and come gameday he choked. So preseason stats are worthless.
By the way, I thought you were a redskin fan now, what happen?

Kap won't play good this year, or not at a standard an unbiased person would call "good." If anyone still believes in him they shouldn't. He has zero chance to overcome the hole he has slowly dug himself (not talking about non football issues) unless he is 100% dedicated to football and he is not. Another big negative to me was the vegan diet, it caused him to lose way more muscle than he should have, pretty sure he didn't consult any NFL nutritionist about that. It would have been much easier to consume too much protein, keep most of the muscle and burn off 20 pounds of fat than gain back 20 pounds of muscle.

I respect your opinions..as for the diet no matter what he was going to lose muscle considering he couldn't lift for awhile after his surgeries..my biggest thing is why do players like Stafford, Cutler, Palmer, many others get so many chances to be great year after year when they fail but Kao has this short leash and everyone gives him the boot..he only had 1 1/2 bad seasons where the half the team was gutted no QB would've won in..

Baalke: "Kaepernick, welcome, have a seat. So we want you here for a long time. But right now you're going to be backing up Blaine. You got a late start so if nothing else, you'll get some time to catch up and be ready to go when we need you to lead this team."
Kaepernick: "I understand."
Baalke: "Terrific. Now, because you'll be a backup, we need to restructure your contact fairly. Should you regain your starting position and play at a high level, we'll restructure up again. Are you willing to do this to stay a 49er?"
Kaepernick: "No."
Baalke: "We anticipated you'd say this. We'll be cutting you. We thank you for your service. And we wish you only the best in your new career as an activist. Paraag has a list of charitable causes that support your BLM movement."
