Agree. You need the threat of a good runner on 1st and 2nd downs in order to optimize play action passing which is where I like Brieda and Mostert. On 3rd down, there is less guessing for the defense so Coleman seems like the good fit for 3rd downs.

Is this the week Street gets activated with Taylor and now Ford likely out? Valoaga and Thomas look set for more playing time on the edge, sadly. I think the Niners are hoping so badly that Tartt is available to at least be a reserve.

Just kind of taking a wild guess, lol. Not fully convinced the team has faith that he's healthy and/or ready to go in a game. They opened Street's practice window but he was not activated. Not sure either guy is in game shape yet, but we'll see. I know it was a small sample size, but Verrett looks finished, physically. Unlike Ward, the majority of Verrett's injuries are things impacting his speed and agility (ankle, knee). If he can't athletically match the opposition, he's screwed.

In all honesty, you're probably right though. Verrett makes more sense due to his experience and hopefully he can knock off the rust playing dime packages and doesn't have to start at all.

Seems like the team is holding out hope that Jones can come back in the playoffs. Hopefully that is true.

Really curious what's going to happen with Celek going to IR and probably DJ Jones too. The fact that they brought up Helm surprised me. Probably means Toilolo gets cut. I am sure there is more moves to come before Sunday. Very interesting this week.
