Breakdown of some of his snaps at SAM actually played pretty well...
That is very good to hear cuz we do need someone to step up along with the rookie here. i have great concerns about linebacking once we get past fred and foster so good to hear good things about him. lets hope it continues when the bullets start to fly for real.

I don't hate Malcolm Smith as our 3rd LBer either. Nzeocha needs to not wear 53 though

It just bugs me over a year after we signed him to a lynch over paid contract we have no clue about him and its a pretty dang important area especially with the loss of foster for two games

He was over paid (hate that contract more than Juice), but you could say that about most FA pickups. He understands the scheme very well which is important for your depth. At the point of that signing we had slow Bowman and Ray Ray lol as our "starters". Bow at this point in his career is a two down thumper and we need speed at LBer. They had to get someone in here that could be the MIKE (call the plays) and has sideline to sideline speed (dude ran a 4.4 40). Health is a ? but up until last yr it wasn't an issue.
Sounds like he will be good to go week 1 with Warner and Coyle will be depth for two weeks.

yup I'm sure some depth moves will be made after cuts.

No, he did not. 49ers were in nickel nearly the entire game against the Texans, so the SAM was rarely on the field. Only Eli, Nzeocha, and Pita played at SAM.

Thanks for the link 85...Nzeocha is not going to make this team if he keeps making perfect form tackles. He needs to do what Thomas did and fold his arms in and intentionally dive past the player. That's a veteran move right there.

Yup.

Juice played well vs Colts.
Very good blocking and the pass for 21 yards[?] was excellent.

Lee & Nzeocha could be in a serious battle for the last roster spot in that area.
Nzeocha's spot appears to be safe. Nobody else besides he and Pita have played SAM in the preseason. I can't imagine them heading into the season having guys play SAM on the fly, irrespective of how trivial the position may be.
The only way I don't see him making the team is if someone is unexpectedly cut from another team, like Bruce Irvin in Oakland.
I can dig it. Good point. What about Watson. He hasn't played any SAM either? For some reason I thought he has.

Which doesn't mean much. SAM is such a tiny role.
