Yes it is pretty full on at the moment. We have had hardly more then one or two glimpses of blue sky in Sydney since the begging of December as our city is covered in smoke and haze from the fires. There are even fires flaring up in bits of suburban bush land around where I live in Sydney suburbs. In the bush it is much worse. Around 1000 people have lost their homes with some entire towns almost wiped out in my state. 20 people dead. It is the worst I have seen it. We have just had some firefighters from California come over to provide some relief to our local guys. This is much appreciated.

To give you an idea of the scale of the fire image the map of England. The fire front stretches from the coast of Southern England to Newcastle which is around 50 miles from the border of Scotland. Roughly around 1000 miles of fires on our East Coast.

I'm so very sorry. California understands what you're going through. Brutal!

The loser…

NOT SO CLEVER NOW ARE YOU TAMPA? Bradley Pinion (TB) walked into that $11m contract with the Bucs fresh outta getting cut by San Francisco for a 27 year old rookie who's NOT EVEN AMERICAN (see below), and lo-and-behold preceded to wildly and comprehensively suck in all areas.

29th in Net Yards (38.3) [NB: 29th in Gross Yards (43.2) – not included in Punt Rank]
29th in % Inside 20 (33.3%)
22nd in % Punts Returned (43.9%)
26th in % Gross Yards Lost (9.0%)
18th in Touchback % (5.3%).

Overall Punt Rank Score of 26.1.

Bradley also managed to finish below Michael Palardy (CAR) who had THREE PUNTS RETURNED FOR TDs on the season, which is borderline miraculous. Speaking of miracles, contract wise there's nothing guaranteed for BP beyond 2020, so he's probably got one shot to get his s**t together. But given that Matt Gay also comprehensively sucked this year, you might fancy that Bruce Arians is going to go and get himself a new punter and kicker (and Quarterback, and Running Back, and Tight End, and, and and and and and arggggggh me hearties we're pirates). Sorry Tampa, but it's bad.

Pinion was and is such garbage. Cant believe someone tried to argue with me that he was good for us.
It's all a set up for his elite onside kicks

An incredible area has been burned. The comparison graphic above doesn't even account for areas burned in the states of Queensland and Victoria.

Not meant to insult but the Australian fires just caused half a billion dollars of damage today...in comparison the 2018 CA fires caused 400 Billion in damages.

2018 California fires hit some high density population areas. The Australian fires have burned a lot of remote bushland and hit some populated areas. The California fires destroyed around 18,000 dwellings. In NSW there are about 1500 homes destroyed and numerous farm sheds and infrastructure. The fatalities were much higher in the Cali fires due to the Camp Fire disaster killing 85 people. Another 15 people were killed in separate incidents in the 2018 fires. There are 25 fatalities in the Australian fires thus far. However, the fires in NSW alone cover an area nearly 6 times larger then California fires. There are also large fire fronts in Victoria and to a lesser extent QLD. The most noticeable effect is the smoke. It has been covering Sydney since early December as well as much of the East Coast of NSW and Victoria. It has also been reaching as far as New Zealand, a 2 1/2 hour 767 flight away from Australia.

On the subject of Wish. I was open to being ok with spending a 4th on a punter, long as I saw a special something now and then. Dude's been ok, and not worth anywhere near the 4th that was used to select him. We could have gotten his production from an undrafted FA imo.

He was 7th in the league on overall performance in his first year in the NFL. He made one bad kick off in 20 games. His hang time allowed the gunners to restrict return yard to almost zilch until the final couple of games and the returns in those games were more to poor defense against good returners. He will be better next year. He is a long term investment.
