I think kickoffs are harder to get hangtime compared to punting since the ball is in a different angle when kicked.

True, but some other teams kickers manage to do so consistently, ( sorry, I have no examples of who ), we just shouldn't be giving up that much field position on kickoffs. Maybe use a taller Tee.
We're 9th in the league at average starting position after a kickoff starting on average at the 24.5 yard line. It's not fantastic sure, but it's well above average.

Was that the average for this game against the Vikings?

The 30 with one big return.

Thanks for the calculations. "Go Niners"

30? List the starting field positions by drive. Is that accurate?

Also, how about on important (momentum) drives?

His punts forced 2 muffs yesterday, one of which resulted in a turnover. Rookie came up big in a big game.

Yes it is pretty full on at the moment. We have had hardly more then one or two glimpses of blue sky in Sydney since the begging of December as our city is covered in smoke and haze from the fires. There are even fires flaring up in bits of suburban bush land around where I live in Sydney suburbs. In the bush it is much worse. Around 1000 people have lost their homes with some entire towns almost wiped out in my state. 20 people dead. It is the worst I have seen it. We have just had some firefighters from California come over to provide some relief to our local guys. This is much appreciated.

To give you an idea of the scale of the fire image the map of England. The fire front stretches from the coast of Southern England to Newcastle which is around 50 miles from the border of Scotland. Roughly around 1000 miles of fires on our East Coast.

I'm so very sorry. California understands what you're going through. Brutal!

An incredible area has been burned. The comparison graphic above doesn't even account for areas burned in the states of Queensland and Victoria.

Not meant to insult but the Australian fires just caused half a billion dollars of damage today...in comparison the 2018 CA fires caused 400 Billion in damages.

EDIT: What Goatie said.

This article with photos gives you a better idea of the scale of the fires in Australia. It has an overlay map of Australia on the US

BTW, If any of you ever needs to check on USA National Wildland Fire Information, you can go to this site for good intelligence. https://www.nifc.gov/nicc/sitreprt.pdf

My main issue with Wish is his kickoffs. We continually give teams great starting field position instead of making them drive. Why is he handling kickoffs? I know that Gould has to be used solely for FGs but field position is an issue.

We need to fix this.

How? We can't have a 3rd guy just for kickoffs. Eventually they replace Gould with a guy that has a stronger leg and Mitch won't have to handle kickoffs.
The knuckler that led to the fumble was clutch

Is this really a weak leg thing or a Hightower call?

Either way, we're lucky it didn't bite us in the ass.

They ask him to kick it to the goal line because they like certain coverages vs certain returners.

Honestly, that's been my theory as well. I think it's Hightower. And Hightower sucks!

Yep, it sure seems like it.
kickoffs were uncharateristically short yesterday, need to give the wife a 10,000 shopping gift card the day before games to close her legs and mouth the night before games

He's being coached to do that. You can see by the trajectories of his kicks.

This
In particular the muff that caused a turnover was great. He literally kicked a spiral and that's what made it hard for him to field it decently. Fielding a punt that's end-over-end is much easier to field. But a spiral coming downward is kid of awkward. Mitch caused that muff.
Don't we have anyone else to do kickoffs? We need someone that can just kick it to the endzone. With our defense, we don't want the ST to screw them over.
