The way I see it, we havent had a bad backup yet and I dont see why I should expect him to be. He may not be a dynamic playmaker but I expect him to be solid and our D to still work as it has been.

The whole team is built to be modular. One man down, next man up. Next man might only be 90% of the other man but that wont figure as bad when he fits into the big picture. He will be just fine, like Skule was when Staley went down.

There are things a playcaller can do to help a backup offensive tackle, whereas if Greenlaw is a liability, offenses will find a way to exploit him.

In your film breakdown it looked like he was diagnosing the run pretty well. Which I remember him doing in the preseason as well. That part of his game I'm pretty comfortable with. His coverage is an unknown right now. Like a lot of people have already said, Lockett likes to run those crossing patterns and if your out of place with his speed he can burn you badly.
Was Greenlaw put in any significant passing plays after Kwon exited the game THL?

I agree his diagnosis and aggressiveness in filling his gap in the run game could be, dare I say, an improvement over Kwon. I will watch the passing plays again right now to see if anything stood out, good or bad.

Greenlaw did not factor into any passing plays after Kwon went out. There were some screen passes thrown, but nothing that involved him dropping into zone or manning up and factoring into the outcome of the play.

Nice. And thanks for that!
Greenlaw looks like a pretty decent player. He has read and recognition. He is a good tackler. It's just a question of does he have the speed? Especially in coverage. That's where he is not as good as our starter and may be exploited.
I re-watched the Arizona game last night with an eye on Greenlaw after Kwon Alexander went down. Truthfully, I was not encouraged. He is athletic, but his instincts seemed a little off. It's not a fair comparison because Kwon Alexander seems to have a great instincts and nose for the ball, but I think the defense needs to scheme accordingly so Greenlaw doesn't have to carry the same weight as Alexander.

Great effort. A few were worried about him in coverage but he almost won us this game with that INT.
Solid performance. Great int
Played well and was almost the hero late. He definitely alleviated a lot of people's concerns about him.

Didn't even notice much out of him outside of that int. and that's a good thing.
Great play at the most clutch moment of the game... sadly, totally wasted.

Big ups to this kid.
