I'm kind of looking forward to somewhat of a reset by our D line. Treat it almost like we are a 5 - 12 team as opposed to 12 - 5 where you are trying to get good players on the team.

Going into 2024, we would have AA, Bosa, Hargrave, Ferrell (hope he is resigned), Beal, Jackson, and Davis. Not much faith in Jackson and Davis is injury prone. Hoping we draft a run stuffer in the 3rd that can start on 1st and 2nd immediately. Move AA back to DE on those base downs and have a starting lineup of AA/rookie DT/Hargrave/Bosa.

We've got to get than run under control. It needs to be a day 1 starter.

On pass rushing downs, we can play around with lineups, but right now Bosa/AA/Hargrave/Beal look decent.

The loss of Adam Peter's has got me bothered, not gonna lie. Now knowing Kyle's heavily involved in drafting the DLine - kind of shows me a little bit why the defensive line drafts have been meh. (Kinlaw, Solomon, Reubens, Drake etc...). My hope is Kyle somehow either gets better at drafting defense or leaves defensive drafts entirely to his lieutenants and defensive coaches.

Urban legend with Peters. As for those busts, its clear what they value in players, but the issue is overdrafting based on those traits. But to pin it all on Kyle? I think Thomas was more Lynch. Kocurek wanted Kinlaw. Drake had elite traits, but the guy just hasn't developed. I won't fault the staff for that because they have shown they can develop D-line players.

My hope is that they get finished products that can contribute now. No redshirts.

I"m still hoping Beal will contribute this season. I know he's pretty much a bench warmer for now, but he has some explosiveness to him the last time I saw him play (against the rams). I hope Jaiyir, Luter, and Beal can contribute in the last game of the season somehow.

I think Peter's is a big loss. For the simple reason that you are losing a ton of college scouting and player/coach networking connections. Those are hard to replace. I know ShanaLynch wants to promote from within, and I hope it works out, but I just fear those late round gems like Elijah, Hufanga, and Jauan won't be there next year. Just a feeling I have at the moment.

Someone in our DL other than Bosa needs to be on in this game. I'm hoping is Javon wrecking havoc on KC. That interior push will disrupt everything KC planned for this game.

That's my hope too. Our DLine, as badly as they have played in the playoffs, did step it up when it counted. Got to put consistent pressure on Patrick or he'll rip the 49er secondary apart.
Thuney ruled out. Huge!

DL better capitalize.

Wilks won't blitz if he can help it, so it's going to have to be stunts and dogs with the Linebackers in a zone blitz kind of scheme. (DLine drops and LB's rush) Patrick can beat man or zone or blitz happy defenses (Ravens for example), so the key there would be to disguise the defense as much as possible and pray he makes some mistakes.

My hope too, Allegretti is no chump, but I'd have to think Hargrave would have an advantage there.

I think JH and AA will be the best DT's and will out play Chris Jones.

Listening to Crosby's take on controlling Mahomes sheds a little light on why the line has been so underachieving this year. Crosby said it all about those 4 guys playing as one, and with all the new and late additions it's not surprising they haven't gotten on the same page yet. I believe that finally changes Sunday.
This past off season we paid big money to Hargrave to come and bring pressure from the middle along with AA. He now gets to face a back up guard in the biggest game of the season, if he doesn't show out It this game, it would be a big waste of money.
Up to this defensive line to control this game & that Chiefs offense! Let's go 49ers defenders!

These two are the two biggest wildcards!! They need to show up. Their injuries make them rather inconsistent. We need them healthy and ready to dominate. We need to put pressure on Mahomes or it's gonna be a long day.
I would like to know when the Chiefs' offensive lines will be able to hold our defense lines while the referees allow it to be called legal per NFL regulations. However, Mahomes is a rapid thrower and a highly legendary quarterback! Because they hold a lot, it's unfair that our defense lines are still having trouble sacking him.

The Chiefs O line was called for more holding penalties than any other team this season. At least they were at one point. Not sure of the final stats.

JDs video showed back to back plays against the ravens in playoffs where KC got flagged for holding

3rd and 4 Mahomes scramble for 1st down (flag negated)
3rd and 14 screen for TD (flag negated)
Obviously every position on every play will matter but the Dline containing Mahomes, pressuring him, and helping stop the screen game is huge.

I was surprised at how much better they were this year at QB containment, but they have zero awareness for screens. That used to be flipped.

I think they can contain Mahomes but that will come at a cost for the pass rush. Wilks hasn't manufactured pressure very much this year.
