Came to the US/SF Bay Area when I was 5 and have only a vague recollection of the back-to-back '88-'89 team (I do remember the player intros to SB 24 and the shellacking of the Broncos). Finally in '94 I figured out American football's down and distance system (it had always a mystery to me before then, lol) so that team was special to me, plus finally getting over the hump of the hated cowboys. Obviously this year's team has the freshness of being current and very likeable....hope they bring home #6! 🙏🏼

Nothing was better than 1984 as a team. But this team will top the list or close to it if they win. Because it has just been so long since they won. Way too long. We need another trophy in the case now. And this is the year. Lets bring it home and make 2019 magical. We are all tired of remembering the glory days. It's time for something in the modern era now. It's long past due.
This team closes the deal it will be the 2019 squad. 1989 and 1994 will always have a special place in my heart. I became a 49ers fan as a young child in the mid '80s, so my first experience was the golden era, and at that time I knew nothing but sustained excellence. These last 25 years have taught me the harsh reality of the NFL. It's been excruciatingly painful to experience the decline from excellence to mediocrity to absolute garbage and points in between. That's why winning number six this year will be so sweet.
Favorite is 1994. I didn't watch the other as I was born in 1979 and didn't start following the team closely until 1992.
I wore out the VHS I got from SI of the first 45 years of the team history before they won it in 1994, though. Still remember being a bit miffed at the narrator saying "But though Steve Young could win games, only Joe Montana could win championships". Just a bit premature there, narrator.
Sentimental Favorites:
1) 1981 (First is best, especially as a Bay Area HS Freshman)
2) 1984 (18-1 enough said, bookend my HS years with another Lombardi)
3) 1989 (Steamroller. Most dominant post season run in league history?)
4) 1988 (NFC title game in Chicago is still one of my favorite 49er wins ever)
5) 2019 (Will move up a spot with a W)
6) 1994 (Lombardi for Young, but didn't like the mercenary feel that landed us in salary cap hell)
7) 2012 (Lovable losers)
