I can't even imagine the meltdown, around the zone here, ( and everywhere else ), if the FO had selected " I- Hook " at the 14th spot in the first instead.....As it was reported that Coach might have considered drafting him at that spot anyway...

What's crazy is yes if it went down that way there would have been some irate people in here. I was an Aiyuk guy and even i would have .

That said knowing what we know now. Aiyuk at 14. Keep our 4th and 5th and stay at 31 for Blacklock may have been our better play.

Reggie Robinson
Amik Robertson
Alton Robinson
Jack Driscoll

All went between our 4th and 5th. But assuming they still go Colton in 4th like they had planned...

5th round selections could have been

Tyler Johnson (a better big slot than jennings)
Nic Harris
Bryce Hall
Curtis Weaver
Darnell Mooney
Bradlee Anea
Netane Muti
Michael Onwenu

To name a few

Yea, Genius49 mentioned this take last night, here...I was and still am a bit amazed that Coach had IHook rated at the same level, ( or close), as Lamb.
Very Interesting and possible scenario you lay out as to the way our draft might have went differently.
Also, Many have us here, really liked Nick Harris a lot, would you know who picked him and when ?

Just keep repeating this to yourself:

81" wingspan, 40" vertical leap, 4.4 speed.

And, 9-3/4" hands at 6'0" tall.

Yup guy is a beast

Ok. Now we are lying.

He's not 6'. He didn't run a 4.4.

That doesn't mean he can't produce.

Did we meet him in person?

He is 5'11 and 5/8's. So a hair under 6 feet.

And he ran 4.5 with a groin injury, same one that kept him out of the Senior Bowl. He has since had surgery to take care of that.
Hard not to get excited about this kid in Kyle's offense.

If you think 40 time is what the discussion is when talking about release, I know understand why you got so triggered when I said Deebo struggled as a WR early on.

Hell, Jerry Rice struggled with drops early on. He got (much) better, and Deebo seemed to improve as well. There's nothing wrong with pointing out that Deebo struggled with something when he first got to the league, that isn't an insult to the man. Aiyuk will no doubt struggle with something also, and people here will overreact, and then he'll get better. Relax, people.

You're far too sensible and level-headed for this forum.

PFF draft guide breakdown

"Aiyuk is one of the most explosive wideouts in an incredibly deep class. That explosiveness has already translated to his route-running and after the catch ability at Arizona State. You need a big-play threat, Aiyuk is your man."

"Another year, another Arizona State wide receiver with a sizzling highlight reel. This time, Aiyuk brings a little more well-rounded game to the table. It's worthy asking why he didn't cut into N'Keal Harry's market share more in 2018, but there's no denying that Aiyuk has a skillset that's far more coveted in today's NFL. Not only is he a dynamo after the catch, but he's also very polished before the catch. His ability to maintain speed out of his cuts is second to none in the draft class. Combine that with a number of moves to get off press at the line of scrimmage and you have a top receiver prospect."

Pros:

-Explosiveness off the charts. Flies off the line of scrimmage.
-Doesn't lose speed in and out of breaks down the football field.
-Angle-changing speed. Doesn't need much of a crease to take it to the house.
-Flexible lower half to sell routes. Can get crazy low on some of his breaks.
-Defenders bounce off his legs. Strength throughout frame.
-Weapon as a returner. Averaged 34.0 yards per kick return and 16.1 per punt.

Cons:

-Very inconsistent at the catch point. Caught only three of 14 contested targets in career.
-Pushes off a ton down the field instead of creating space with his body.
-One-year wonder. Only 474 yards in his career prior to this season.
-Didn't always adjust to passes outside his frame well. Left some plays on the field.

Comp Pierre Gracon 2nd RD grade

Agree. You pointed out a weakness in an elegant manner, backed it up with a good example and still left optimism as the final point.

Can I borrow you over in the offensive line thread?
IIRC Kittle had some drop issues as a rookie as well. Sometimes you just try to do too much trying to prove yourself. Aiyuk may not have giant hands but they're good sized so if the concentration is there he'll be just fine.
