We need to keep this team in perspective. last season was the first winning season in a few years. They got to the SB and lost.

The Niners teams of the 80 'and 90's had 17 straight 10 win seasons. Eleven times they won 12 or more. They went to and won 5 SBs. Five. Even with those great teams loaded with future HOF players we still only made it to the SB 5 times. Getting to the SB is really hard, no matter how good your team is. Lot's of things have to go right. Stay free of injuries. Have a favorable schedule. And still you don't always win.

This current Niner team has some talent but it's no juggernaut. Not even close. Until they get a true top 10 or top 5 QB that can stay healthy, they will continue to to be up and down. Even if they improve the O line, they don't have a play making dynamic figure leading the team. It's not just about on field performance all the time. Sometimes a true leader can lift a team. I don't get the impression that Jimmy is a dynamic leader. Good team mate but he seems kind of quiet and laid back. They will be better next year if they can have a reasonably healthy year but that doesn't mean they will challenge for a SB.

This has nothing to do with football but I see all these young QBs doing commercials all the time on TV. Where's Jimmy? The guy is Hollywood handsome and he's not getting these spots. Why? Maybe because he's just kind of dull.

Yeah it's hard to watch losing. The emotions tend to get in the way but losing out is our best long term option. The team is beat to s**t and has no chance of competing for a ring this season. The better route is to play out the season, get healthy, and get a better draft slot. This team will need it as they will be forced to let some key players walk in the off-season because of the cap.

Nos**t but it'll still be fun to watch them compete in the playoffs especially if Jimmy and Kittle come back lmao. Do you think the team shares your same aspirations to tank? Do you think that they'll go out onto the field and play to tank? That is dangerous in many ways and no player will ever even consider it. Coaches may consider it from a developmental perspective by playing rooks/younger players/backups but I highly doubt it until we're mathematically eliminated.

Anytime your team plays to tank, if it even happens, you have terrible culture.
They played their asses in 2017 and 2018 when the seasons were over at this point, because they hate losing.
The draft is a crap shoot. If they want a guy they'll move to get him. Mahomes, Watson and Josh Allen all required big trades to pick them.
Perhaps they'll try to experiment Mckivits at RT if McGlinchey keeps sucking, or Brunskill at RT.
Perhaps we'll see two games of Jauan Jennings if he gets activated
Other than that, not much experimenting to do.

I agree once you know you can't compete for a SB. Tank tank tank. F making the playoffs we don't have the team to win a trophy. I would bench all our starters the rest of the year. Give guys a chance to put their resume on film.

We're either SB contenders or we tank hard. F this whole middle of the road BS.

Who the hell said anything about planning to tank on my end? Lol. I said it's better for us to lose out and get the higher draft pick with all the vets we're about to lose. Pure discussion. The better position we're in to add higher end talent to replace outgoing talent the better. We come back next year healthier and ready to actually compete for a playoffs spot. Squeaking into the playoffs this year and getting bounced early does nothing for us long term nor is it "fun". Especially if the club is eyeing another qb or high end edge rusher in the draft. It just makes it that much harder and more costly to trade up.

No where did I say we should just show up on the field and plan to lose. Get a grip lol. I'm talking basic semantics here. We have zero corners coming back next year except Mosely as a RFA. Ford is basically an afterthought now. Hyder isn't going to sign for peanuts. This is the first time he will actually get to get paid a decent contract in his career. Then qb comes down to whether the niners actually believe Jimmy is a franchise qb or not. If they don't they will be looking for his replacement. Mind you with no money. That draft position will be extremely important next year.

Nonsense. Human beings aren't robots, nor are the players on the team necessarily playing for the greater good of the 49ers franchise.

They're rightfully playing for themselves, their families, and their livelihoods.

Your reasoning is illogical, perhaps because you can only view the game through your fanatic lens.

That is correct. In which case I said losing is the best option. Once again show me where I said let's play our worst players and try to lose. I said losing is our best long term option then when on to explain why in that post. The poster before me talked about tanking. I simply agreed with the notion that losing was the best option. Sorry if you stopped reading after my first sentence. It happens.

This would be 2022 and 2023 3rd round picks correct

Is this serious ?

At the end of each round. So about pick 105 or so.

No I just tend to look beyond immediate content for a couple cheap wins in order to be in position to achieve a potential longer and better product.

To each their own. You know what they say..."opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one."

Why wouldn't the picks be in 2021 and 2022?

Just to present the scenario that I saw from the Playoff machine, we need to win out and need the Cardinals to lose to either the Eagles or Rams. Also Minnesota can't win out. Unlikely but not out of the realm of possibility.

However I think we'll go 1-2 over our last 3 games.
