So why doesn't Banks get the "only his first start" treatment?

He most certainly should. I think he and Burford will be just fine, along with Trey Lance as well.

Both Banks and Burford received high grades (top 15 for interior oline) for their first start. It was a good first step.

I think there are a ton of video breakdowns that show the good and bad and I think it's a very solid baseline to work from under less than ideal playing circumstances. Let's see if they can build upon it this week.

Haha. That is what he looked like.
He was far from Terrible. He has room to improve and yes, he should get the same first game pass others seem to get. I mean Trent gave up the most pressures of all 5 linemen and Mcs**tty gave up his usual sack at the worst possible time. Greenlaw, Deebo, Wilson and Lanced all played worse.

Because he's a "Guard" I guess.

Imagine drafting Banks over this guy.

This teams OL evaluation certainly leaves something to be desired.

Which is is why in the other thread where the idea that the 9ers don't value OL keeps up coming up I argue the point continually. The issue isn't they don't value the position, they just aren't picking the right people.

...and they need better OL coaching. Losing John Benton hurt.

Can we just pump the brakes on that kind of rhetoric?

Yes, he gave up an unfortunate sack, however, his overall rating put him at #14 among all tackles in the first week. Not bad for a guy coming off a very serious leg injury and still playing with a brace on his knee. #14.

Not rhetoric just my nickname for him because he has at least one of the s**ttest plays every week at the s**ttest possible time. Hence Mcs**tty. Didn't say he was terrible just absolutely terrible timing.
Creed Humphrey looked bad on Thursday but banks looked horrendous week 1

I believe coaching may be a bigger problem. Not a single drafted O-lineman has developed under this regime. The best guys were traded for or free agents and had years in the league. In terms of homegrown talent, the best we have is Dan Brunskill.
Banks had a couple nice blocks that stood out. They were the inverse of last week where he whiffed on the LB. This week he successfully climbed to the second level after chipping Seattle's fat f**k IDL and connected with the LB to spring our RB.
