Looks like a lot of taunting going on in that picture. I don't think they were, just looks like it.

Imagine drafting Banks over this guy.

This teams OL evaluation certainly leaves something to be desired.

Which is is why in the other thread where the idea that the 9ers don't value OL keeps up coming up I argue the point continually. The issue isn't they don't value the position, they just aren't picking the right people.

...and they need better OL coaching. Losing John Benton hurt.

I believe coaching may be a bigger problem. Not a single drafted O-lineman has developed under this regime. The best guys were traded for or free agents and had years in the league. In terms of homegrown talent, the best we have is Dan Brunskill.

We will see. Tomlinson was a bust and then came to SF and become a pro-bowler. We have Banks and Burford now. We will see where they are in a few years.
The coach were able to get guys off the street and start, I am referring to Mike Person and Brendal.

I specifically mentioned guys traded for. We are going to truly see because we have a few young guys drafted the last few seasons . I was higher on Banks than most because he came in with a pass blocking rep. So far, it looks promising. I think Banks has the talent to end up being better than Tomlinson. Hoping we only have to turn our attention to tackle and center.

So the Lions coaching staffs deserved credit for Tomlinson's developement from a bust to a pro bowler, while the Niners coaching staffs deserved nothing?

I was talking about guys we draft verses guys acquired by other means. SF deserves the credit but it's interesting that prior to this year, our best succeses are not the guys we scouted and drafted. Our staff gets the credit for developing Tomlinson, but it's still an interesting contrast. Trent, Mack,, Richburg,, and Laken verses McGlinchey, McKivitz, Skule, Brunkskill, etc. To be fair,, only MM was drafted higher than 5th and I think Banks and Burford will finally break this trend.
Credit to Aaron - he played very well and I hope he continues his improvement.

If he can - we're in a lot better shape in the upcoming games.
Do we even run outside T anymore? Who cares when you run for 190 yards inside!

Banks had a couple nice blocks that stood out. They were the inverse of last week where he whiffed on the LB. This week he successfully climbed to the second level after chipping Seattle's fat f**k IDL and connected with the LB to spring our RB.

One of those runs. This is some damn good execution by the OL across the board.

Banks fired off like a MOFO on the goal line play. Tremendous!

burford had 2 nice blocks as well. Maybe they just need a little time to develop.
Last year during preseason it was obvious he just didnt react cause he was thinking too much but when he got to face man on man he excelled.

This year the assignments are second nature, at least from the past two weeks his weakness is no longer hesitation its positioning against the fast "shoot the gap" guys. The announcers talked up Woods nonstop and when banks got a helmet on a helmet we saw the success.

Speed rushers will give him fits but we saw the leap he made in one year... if he makes that leap against speed... watchout! Center and RT are still a concern but so far this line looks (with its youth) that it can really grow into something.
Arrow up!
Both G looks good

i still expect some growing pains and mental lapses but we may have hit on both G positions

it was just time to let the new OGs play... this is the only time we'll know if they have a future.. so far so good tho.. you can tell they are building confidence..

Yeah, I expect Banks to struggle with those. Also, teams that use wide splits inside will likely give him issues.
