Last year we had 45 players hit I.R. (just I.R.); not including all the others that didn't go on I.R. but missed games. We're actually on track to have MORE than that with 9 games to go (26-28).

Shon Coleman isn't on the roster, he was waived off IR earlier this season with an injury settlement, same with Tim Harris. Also Kendricks was cut.

Of the guys you list, I'd keep Trey, Mitchell, Hasty, Sermon, Juice, Deebo, Aiyuk, Jennings, Kittle, Woerner, Mack, Brunskill, Laken, Trent, McGlinchey, Moore, Banks, Armstead, Bosa, Ebukam, Key, Willis, Omenihu, Kinlaw, Street, Givens, Hurst, Jones, Greenlaw, Warner, Al-Shaair, Moseley, Ambry, Lenoir, K'Waun, Ward, Hufanga, Moore, Gould, Wish, & Pepper, so that's 41 players I'd keep around for 2022 and possibly beyond as core players.

I'd jettison the following, Jimmy, Sudfeld, Mostert, Cannon, Hurd, Compton, Harris, D.Johnson, Norman, Kirkpatrick, Tartt, & Wilson.

Unsure of the following, J.Wilson, Sanu, Sherfield, Brendel, Skule, Dee, Flannigan-Fowles.

Yeah, I just added every I.R. player too. Like last year, you know ShanaLynch will bring many of these guys back like Shon Coleman.

You can't compete in this league if these guys are your main pass rushes outside of Bosa. No way in hell should Ebukam be brought back. Samething with Street, Givens and Hurst. Maybe one can stick around for back up purposes. But this team will not compete with these guys as our interior lineman of the future. They aren't good players.
Replacing all the guys on tha tlist is probably a 2or 3 year project. No team can turn over half their roster in one season. They're already without a 1st round pick. Signing that many free agents would be impossible. First of all it would cost too much. Free agents always are overpaid unless they aren't very good and play for the minimum. Then we would be in the same situation with different players. Second, even if they could find a way to afford them, they aren't going to be able to sign every good player. Other teams have needs too and free agents can sign where they want.

Seriously. If we trot out the same roster next year I'm going to shoot myself. The only silver lining is that a good majority of the team are players with 1 year contracts

And the reason why they were one year deals....... we were all told. this is a superbowl team and they know their best chance to win now is to sign with us. the list is endless starting with better coaching across the board. the entire o line is suspect and yes we need a new young center. better wide outs with deebo and brandon. placekicker. entire d line cept for bosa. linebackers and blow up the entire secondary. people who just think the magic bullet is trey are just whistling past the end zone.. or as cc would say are denying and deflecting
SF has 33 players under contract for 2022, including players with uncertain futures (Ford, Hurd, Skule). But for this exercise, let's assume 32 players make the team (Jimmy will be traded). Which means there are 21 roster spots available. Here's what they should do (I'm not including most PS players):

TRADE (1):
Jimmy G

DO NOT RE-SIGN (11):
Jason Verrett
Dontae Johnson
K'Waun Williams
Raheem Mostert
Trenton Canon
Jaquiski Tartt
Josh Norman
Dre Kirkpatrick
Mohamed Sanu
Tom Compton
Nate Sudfeld (PS candidate?)

RE-SIGN (10):
DJ Jones
Kevin Givens
Trent Sherfield
Davontae Harris
Jake Brendel
Jeff Wilson OR JaMycal Hasty
Arden Key OR Jordan Willis
Maurice Hurst OR Kentavius Street
Ross Dwelley OR Tanner Hudson
Azeez Al-Shaair OR Marcell Harris OR Flannigan Fowles

POSSIBLE CHEAP DEPTH (if some of the above are too expensive):
Darrion Daniels
Jauan Jennings
Tarvarious Moore
Daniel Brunskill

By re-signing 10 players, there are now 11 roster spots available. SF currently has 5 draft picks, with another 1 (at least) coming for Jimmy and another 1 (or 2) compensatory picks. So, let's say 7 picks. Five of them NEED to make the roster. Which leaves 6 FA signings.

Of the 11 available roster spots, here's the positional need breakdown, regardless of draft pick or FA:
QB: 1
RB: 1
WR: 1
G/T: 1
DT: 1
LB: 2
CB: 2
S: 2

What do you think?

What do you think?

Why would we not re-sign K'Waun? He's one of the best Slot CBs in the NFL, we'd be dumb to not keep him.

I agree with the rest of the don't re-sign.

Just an FYI, the team has 3 scheduled RFAs & 5 ERFAs, their RFAs are Brunskill, Al-Shaair(who I would re-sign), & Street, our ERFAs are Jennings, Hasty, McKivitz, Givens, & Flannigan-Fowles, all 5 will be tendered, their contracts would be $825K for Jennings, & $895K for the other 4, all league minimum, non guaranteed.

What about Laken Tomlinson? You don't have him listed.

I already started my yearly offseason plan, check it out here, https://49erscap.com/index.php/2022-offseason-plan/, it's a work in progress, obviously, but this is what I'd do right now, I'm gonna keep it updated.
K'Waun has been hurt the last 2 years, I think it's time to move on. But I could live with vet minimum.

Tomlinson is signed for 2022, no?

Good to know about the RFAs and ERFAs. If he looks good the rest of this year, I prefer Wilson to Hasty, although keeping both gives 4 RBs.

I'll check out your link, love the work you put in!

I would probably keep some of the injury prone players at vet minimum, like Raheem Mostert. 49ers need multiple RB like him, and currently only have one.

Of course, would the players agree to the vet minimum? Who knows, but if they aren't willing to take it, let them walk.

Straight objects for yall. But u beg for autographs or photos if you come across them.

Exactly, they put their life/health on the line for a game, yes many make millions, but some only make the league minimum, plus the fact that they don't bring home every bit of that money, they pay taxes for where they live, play, plus 401K, and other stuff.

At the end of the day they play a game for a living and make millions.

They obviously got bills like everyone else does, but they make way more money than most of us and probably spend on things that are unnecessary too.

so I don't feel bad for them.

i just hope they all gained a backup career while still in college.
I'll play my own game.

For those objective fans, try this exercise. Simply list or bold the players below you feel you can rely on for health + quality play. WARNING: Please consult a therapist immediately after this exercise.

Offensive Personnel:
Trey Lance
Elijah Mitchell
Trey Sermon
Kyle Juszczyk
Charlie Woerner
Trent Sherfield
Trent Williams
Jaylon Moore
Laken Tomlinson
Alex Mack
Jake Brendel
Daniel Brunskill
Aaron Banks

Having managed the injury thread, it starts with health and availability for me. Keep in mind, Trey was injured twice already and Mitchell, twice in four games. But you gotta roll with them.

This list tells me we need a legit #2 TE, numerous legit receivers and more talented OL that challenge starters. We also need another QB with Trey's kind of skill set as well as Mitchell's.

Defensive Personnel:
Charles Omenihu
Samson Ebukam
Arik Armstead
Nick Bosa
Fred Warner
Deommodore Lenoir
Dontae Johnson
Ambry Thomas
Talanoa Hufanga

. This is pathetic. We need an entirely new DT group and two legit pass rushers. None of the other hybrid linebackers can stay healthy and naturally, our 3 worst CB's are the only ones who can stay healthy. Basically need an entirely new back end.

Special Teams:
Taybor Pepper
Mitch Wishnowsky

Time to move on from Gould unless you're looking for a 3rd year of him going on I.R. right before the Seattle game.

Overall, if they run it back again, expect another 45+ players on I.R. again. That would be the very definition of insanity.

John Lynch is too busy cutting and then signing back the same scrubs. The man has a lot on his plate.
