How the f**k did he last until the 7th... he's got real deal talent. With Brady it was understandable bc it still took him several years to actually look good. Purdy has been doing it since day and looks like a first overall pick. Just insane.
it didn't take Brady years to look good, he won a SB his first year he played,
both guys just needed an opportunity to see the field, that era wasn't as friendly to QB numbers, on a D and Special Teams squad also, while BP is with Shanny
Yes it did. It absolutely did.
He won SB MVP first year he played, he played well enough year 1 of playing to get Bledsoe traded out of town
I'd say that more than qualifies as 'good'
Lol Brady wasn't seen that way for the first couple of years. You're dead wrong.
SB MVP, I mean he won that. Dead wrong about an opinion lol plz.
Depends what you mean by 'good'. If you mean good he was good. If you mean NFL MVP well that's more than good. He was good enough as a rook to make roster BB talks about having to carry 3 QBs and waste essentially a roster spot. Same with Brock.
Depends on what "good" means...
if Good means going 11-3, make the pro-bowl and win the Super Bowl as the MVP.... then yes Brady was good.
If Good means throwing for around 60%, 3000ish yards with 18TDs and 12 picks.....ehhh that is not jaw dropping. That is 22nd in the league that year in yards, 14th in TDs, 18th in interception rate, and 4th highest completion percentage.
I was a bit of a Drew Bledsoe fan, so I have some pretty vivid memories of the sheer audacity to treat Bledsoe the way he was treated for a no name young QB. I was very anti-Brady. The way I remember it I was blaming NE's line for getting Bledsoe sacked on the regular, and was waiting for the young guy to fall apart behind NE's line...but he kept the job. Brady got sacked a ton, just like Bledsoe did. I want to say his protection had to be wayyyy down towards the bottom of the NFL. He just never crumbled like I expected him too.
I had to look it up...6th worst pass protection that year.
I don't think Brady was like a sure fire top 10 QB out of the gate...but he was clearly at worst top 15.

LEAVE IT UP TO YOU TWO KNUCKLE HEADS TOO COMPLAIN ABOUT TOM BRADY IN THE BP THREAT. JHC!
i blame GGG, what kind of opinion is Brady didn't look good winning SB MVPs
maybe he didn't throw for 400 but I think SB MVP is pretty good,
Brock and Brady have some parallels, that's good for us, QB is about leadership, they both bring it
They had no one else to give it to lol. He had 16 completions and 145 yards.... Everyone was talking about how that defense stopped arguably the greatest offense of all time. Did you even watch football back then?
Even in Brady's doc he talks about how he thought he would go back to being the backup next season and how shocked he was to be named starter. Media didn't start giving Brady respect until he won his 2nd SB.
Anyways... Point still stands it's insane how overlooked Purdy was for someone that is playing like a first overall pick..

I'm so happy Montana. It's awesome reading all these cool stats and takes - just how dominating we have been in the first 5 games. we are watching something special.. I get so excited to watch brock every game. I can't believe that was just his 10th game. only player I've seen dominate like this when they first start out is Mahommes and he was in his second year. lol

From Cowboys fourum:

Shanahan called plays, while McCarthy was calling for takeout. The 49ers executed with physicality, the Cowboys squandered their few opportunities on the way to getting punked in primetime. In my wildest dreams I did not envision an embarrassing butt kicking like we received tonight. I was ashamed, I can only hope that everyone affiliated with this organization, are feeling the same way.
Damn, this was embarrassing

This was a hard watch all the way around. Purdy's passes hitting wide open receivers in stride, or falling perfectly between coverage. Dak's passes were behind, low, leading receivers out of bounds, or into double coverage. 49ers running backs found creases, Dallas running backs got stonewalled. The 49ers got pressure, while the Cowboys crumbled under it.

It's amazing, he stole my heart completely after the SEA game with that Steve Young, double-fake Bill Walsh old skool playbook s**t and made it look easy..and was a fkng rookie?! I was like we have HIM without a doubt!!! My ❤️ dropped in amazement. I knew at the MIA game in my gut..but that play..fng Steve Young out there. I immediately bought damn EXPENSIVE seats for the Raiders game. Which I was like, I don't think I can afford this..but fk it..charge this s**t lol..it will be worth it and it was. Then got my Purdy jersey:)

Even the haters have to agree he's a top 10 QB now, right?
Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Herbert, Tua, Hurts… I'm struggling to think of who to put next on this list besides Purdy.
Lawrence has been pretty good but has never looked this good (I can't believe the NFL sub Reddit still insisted they would easily take Lawrence over Purdy after last season). Lamar Jackson fell off ever since the playoff loss after his MVP season. Dak Prescott fell off after his first playoff loss to us. Cousins is a stat collector specialist who has clearly never even collected stats as well as Purdy has. Jury is of course still out on all the rookie QB's. That leaves Kyler, Stafford, Russell Wilson, Jimmy G… in 2021 sure but hard to argue any of them in 2023. Even Jared Goff, who has been good, everyone is slightly overhyping because of the "redemption" story.
So yeah. I think Brock Purdy is better than Derek Carr at this point. Top 10 QB, we finally have one and the fat lady has sung

He's easily top 10. More around 4-6 right now.

we have AT WORST the second best QB in the NFC and I think at worst a top 7 QB in the nfl... so lucky after years of Jimmy and the Trey debacle.
Mahomes
Purdy
The rest
I'd put josh Allen and a healthy Burrow in there. Outside of that, Idk if there is another QB i'd want. there are some other good ones but brock is the entire package. I feel like guys like Tua and Cousins crumble against physical defenses and arent good when needed most. Brock is the man.
Healthy Burrow, okay. No F'in way Allen, bro. Constant hero ball and thinking his physical talent can overcome the situation. It's maddening to watch. Give me a precision ELITE mind like Purdy all day.
