QB Brock Purdy Thread

How is that absurd on its face? You have no idea how to evaluate football talent and get all your opinions from the media. It's obvious.

Young's running was arguably a net negative, while Brock's is a net positive. Brock runs in smart situations. Young used to take off and run to the point where it pissed off Jerry Rice, and he used to get up limping almost every game.

Here are the other QBs in the league:

Captain Shovel Throw: If it weren't for the media, everybody would be talking about how he gets carried by his defense and special teams. The media decided to hype him for certain reasons we can't discuss on this forum. He plays for Andy Reid, who has succeeded with every mediocre and scrub QB. He is a dink and dunk machine who hasn't thrown deep since Tyreek Hill, the fastest player in football and a 1st ballot HOFer, went to the Dolphins. Tua's numbers now look the way Captain Shovel Throw's used to.

Josh Allen: He has periods where he can't hit the broad side of a barn because his footwork is terrible.

Justin Herbert: Checkdown merchant. Poor downfield thrower.

Joe Burrow: Good, but stiff. He can run in a straight line but can't create the way Brock can. He's the only guy who might be more accurate than 2023 Brock.

Lamar Jackson: A running back. 20 years ago he's a poor man's Michael Vick.

C.J. Stroud: Look at how he is doing this year. Lacks intelligence.

Matt Stafford: He is the king of the accuracy/zip combination when he's on, but he's not the greatest deep thrower.

Tua: Stiff. When the rush gets to him, he sucks.

Goff: Stiff. When the rush gets to him, he sucks.

You're complaining about Young's decision making, not his running ability. I wonder if improved decision making affected those averages you cherry picked from his age 32 season onward. No doubt it did.

I'm pretty confident in my ability to evaluate talent next to someone who thinks Brock is the best QB in the NFL.

Really? I cherry picked all but one season since he started making the Pro Bowl?

Brock has game changing mobility. To say otherwise is ridiculous. He has created so many incredible plays with his feet it's ridiculous. Oh, and like Young, he is also strong and can break tackles. See the Eagles and Lions games last year.

Not that rushing averages tell a complete picture of mobility or ability. They definitely don't. Just thought it was funny you weren't completely honest even on this point.

Because it shows a specific span of time, and if you can actually come up with a stat like that, it makes the comment that Brock doesn't have game-changing mobility laughable.

92 Young didn't play nearly as well as the MVP would make you think, either. He had boatloads of dropped interceptions that year.

I actually appreciate Mahomes for the way he plays. Classic WCO that made guys like Roger Craig into borderline HOFer. I wish Kyle would force that kind of offense on Brock. Use CMC and Mason and Kittle in the short game then when the defense condenses throw it over the top. It's the best way to solve teams that blitz often or like to play zone.

Captain Shovel is 31st in those categories.
