What point are you attempting to make here?

If you take away most team's starting QB, their QB room becomes pathetic. Including ours.
If our team is healthy we can get by on our back ups

Are you out of your mind? The 49ers can get by with Brandon Allen and Josh Dobbs "if our team is healthy" (whatever that means)?
You've seen it first hand in 2022, well I assume you did

These are stupid conversations.

Did we forget how the Ravens didn't completely unravel when Lamar got hurt in 21 and 22? How the Chiefs didn't just completely implode when Henne had to play for Mahomes in the playoffs?

If a team is good enough and "healthy" enough they can withstand losing even those guys. If the team has holes mediocre/bad QBs will make them much bigger.

Without Lamar the Ravens still have Derrick Henry. Without Mahomes the Chiefs still have their defense.

Take Purdy out of this team and we're getting our asses handed to us on a platter.

People have to stop worrying about other teams. Purdy is here. I honestly don't care about him getting top X recognition. As long as he's helping us win games that's all I care about.

how's Balt's 2021 season not unraveling when it ended with Lamar hurt and adding a large losing streak which they missed the playoffs
or Balt's 2022 season ending in another losing streak to be a one and done in the playoffs

and how is KC going to unravel with Henne playing only one qtr?

After Purdy's brief showing in Mex City, no one was confident in him to do what we did to finish the season.

I'm more confident that we can do more than other teams with a back up QB when healthy was my point.

Baltimore's 2021 season...you mean when Huntley had the Ravens in every game he actually played in? The same year they were down RB1 and RB2, CB1 and CB2 and had a bunch of other injuries outside of Lamar(remember you wanted a healthy team outside of Brock right)? In the games Huntley started in they were also missing their LT and LG. Go look at their injury report from those last few games...it's FAR from "if team is healthy"

Baltimore 2022 season when they went 1 and done...you mean like they've done in 2019 and 2020 with Lamar? Fun fact, Tyler Huntley made the pro bowl that year. Sure it took a bunch of guys dropping out but certainly tarnishes your whole "they're screwed without Lamar if healthy" analysis.

As far as Henne is concerned one quarter or not it was a playoff game. What happened when he was out there? Oh they had a 98 yard TD drive? Sounds like they didn't totally collapse without Mahomes.

And Purdy's brief showing in Mex City? I have no idea wtf you're talking about. The last time we played Arizona there(assuming that's what you're talking about) we beat them 38-10 and Brock wasn't playing.

The salary cap prevents teams from signing and keeping a decent backup. Some bad tems might not show much difference or maybe might be better since their starter probably isn't very good anyway.

Vikings this year. 49ers 2022. 49ers 2012

Sam Darnold is not the back up, he started the whole season.

Exactly my point. The Vikings had a rookie QB that got injured so Darnold has been the replacement. There's no way of knowing how good they woud have been if McCarthy had played but he likely would have had some problems like most 1st year QBs. In any case he wasn't an established startr.

The 2022 Niners replaced Garoppolo when he got injured with Purdy. JG wasn't a great QB and as it turns out Brock is better than he was. Once agian it wasn't like replacing Mahomes or Stafford.

He is absolutely the backup. Will be more obvious when he's not a Viking next year.

the list goes on though

eagles with foles twice
49ers with young
Vikings with Keenum
titans with Tannehill
browns with Flacco last year

etc etc.

im not making a point. Just answering the call of "list teams that have been successful with backups"

I'm not sure if this is leading to a larger point…I havent ready back into the forum pages to see where this came from. But I agree with this surface-level point youre making.

Okay there have been some but not many. In every case you listed the backup was asgood or better than the starter. That's not very common. Young instead of Montana. One HOF QB over another HOF QB. In most cases the backup isn't nearly as good as the starter. Like I said bad teams are ging to see as much of a dropoff since their starter usually isn't good to begin with.

Not only that, he was signed before the draft to be their QB

Darnold was primed to start with McCarthy sitting for a season or two. Now it looks like McCarthy will be sitting even longer, well ai guess it depends on how far they go in the playoffs. Honestly if the 9ers aren't winning the Super Bowl, then my pick is Minnesota. f**k Detroit!!!!

Just in case there's anybody with an ounce of sense that still thinks this stuff means anything, here's Reid with his initial batch of mediocre QB's -

Excluded (decent starter talent) - Donovan McNabb, Jeff Garcia, Michael Vick (12 Pro-Bowls between them).
Included (mediocre) - Doug Pederson, Koy Detmer, AJ Feeley, Jeff Blake, Mike McMahon, Kevin Kolb, Vince Young

Record - 13 -23
