It's pretty simple boys and girls. An elite qb or one near it has 8-9 wins right now. The current so so Ohio State qb Howard throws as good(as in yikes over 20 yards) a ball, Kyle's massive failure is not prioritizing the qb position beyond system level talent. Brock can't stand on his own, exposed by the loss of Mcaffrey in the backfield.
Yeah Purdy had a rough game but Stafford should have had a couple of picks and Jordan Love three. Yeah he should have gone for the check down but he still didnt have much time to process as a DT was in face almost immediately and it definitely altered his throw to Jennings

He had pressure in his face so he couldn't step into the throw. He doesn't have a cannon arm but given space he would put it out there. Herbstreit commented on the lack of room to throw.

Purdy's been throwing a lot of rainbows. I wonder about his health.

maybe shut him down and play dobbs see what happens. no reason to get brock wrecked going into next year.

I'd rather play Tanner Mordecai. That way you accomplish two things. See what he has and let Purdy rest and reflect on this season's issues.

No. He needs the reps to push through his current struggles with some decision making (going for the deep shot over taking what the defense is giving up underneath) and his timing with guys like Pearsall. Sitting him does nothing but delay him pushing through it.

I generally agree. It is clear that Purdy is better than Jimmy G (not that hard to be) but needs perfect conditions (literally, no rain or snow) and great teammates around him. Purdy getting a 60m contract will greatly limit the 49ers's ability to build a good team around him. Certainly the 49ers can sign a handful of great players but the roster will have major holes. Heck, even now with Purdy on the cheapest contract a team can get the 49ers roster has holes and it shows.

What compounds the 49ers problems is that its roster is aging and most players on the wrong side of 20 or even in their 30s with a TON of miles on their bodies. It is clear from this year that many of the "core" 49ers are either washed (Deebo, Juice, etc.) or could be washed (CMC) or might not be the same after injury (BA). The future doesn't look bright right now

Never thought I'd say this... Jimmy might be better than Purdy.

Absurd statement.

reality is they are probably around the same. both a lil bit short vs KC. same outcome. it will be a mid level NFL starter on a QB1 deal. jimmy had the quick release and a lil more zip. brock is a lil more natural (when pressured) and a scrambler.

It is easier to teach a QB to go to his checkdowns rather than to ignore everything downfield and only use his checkdowns. We have seen that story before.

Brock is still young. He is developing, and it amazes me that this is lost on so many people.

I really like Brock but it's good to be honest. He saved us from the Lance bust and is better than Garoppolo but I've seen multiple games where he can't put the team over THAT hump and this team needs someone that can.

The team can not and must not give him the bag!

I know it's unpopular but Shanahan needs to swallow some ego and bring in a humbled Rodgers for 1 year.

Is that being honest? Jimmy G was more consistent here and while Lance just seems to be not an NFL player. He hasn't really played much since 2019. I have no idea if he could have put it together if he had started a full season. Rodgers is done. Father time comes for us all.

Aaron Rodgers isn't the answer. No matter what they do with Purdy they need to keep looking for the next great one. Like I said if they don't drat in the top 5 in a year when there's a good QB class it's going to take luck. They should draft one every year even if is in a later round. They might find a hidden gem.

I have no interest in having a conversation about Jimmy with you. Your opinion on him is nothing close to reality, so miss me with you saying "reality is."

Brock played at an MVP level last year, and was basically doing that the partial year before as well.

i never saw him as mvp. in my mind he wasn't mvp of his own backfield. that was CMC. he played darn good ball. so did Jimmy in 2017, 2019, and 2021. basically, when healthy.

Purdy was in the MVP conversation last year, regardless if he wasnt the MVP in your own mind. I am not saying he should have won either, but he was absolutely deserving of being in the conversation.

We havent had a QB in the MVP conversation since a lot of posters on this board were still wetting their diapers. You dont get rid of that because of a down year that had him missing his WR1, WR2, RB1, and HOF LT for some/most/all of the season.

THe problems on this team are a lot bigger than QB. No way are we 8-9 wins.

The PROBLEM is being exposed...

KS10 - number ONE problem ( he can't coach; should not be a HEAD COACH; will win Super Bowls as an OC ONLY)

Purdy - finally found a nick name that fits him ( THE ELEMENT ... as long as the condition is fair, he can take us to places )

Sorensen - an average driver that's behind a LAMBO

LYNCH - will continue to be an AVERAGE GM as long as KS10's the coach.. he just wont/can't make HIS OWN MOVES because of the HC
